IT'S GREAT TO BE GODLIKE!

GOP Godlike? This is news? C'mon, Rick. ;-)

Um, Rove-GATE? (sorry Rick) I thought that story was over on Friday when the NYT finally declared Rove innocent of any alleged name leak. Did they publish a correction?

Heck, Dean was giving Osama Bin Laden the benefit of the doubt in 2004, but early this year he was calling Tom Delay a criminal without a trial or even an indictment. A similar treatment is due Rove, I suppose -- since he is, after all, Godlike.

Yup, I love the smell of beached liberals burning in the morning.

MOONBAT TIME WARP

Rick, I am so glad that you didn't mention LAVA LAMPS. My daughters each have one, and I stare at them constantly. (The lamps.) They are the way-cuelist thing. We don't need the Dems giving them a bad name.

docG: I'm confused. Were those supposed to be in advancing order 1-10, or 10-1?

THE RETURN OF MARVIN MOONBAT

Missed you, Marvin! How's Chloe's bralessness and underarm/leg hair? I hear that these work pretty well as a rattler repellant.

THE TIMES GOES FOR THE GOLD

Tony Snow has an inspired theory on this today: if not Karl Rove (since why would Miller fall on her sword for him), could it be that Rove's and Miller's source was... a reporter?!? Is she protecting a fellow journalist?

There is so much nothing to this nothing story, but it will be pressed on, since the NYT and MSM generally hate Bush and Rove with an all-consuming hate, AND we're nearing the summer news doldrums.

A FORGETTABLE, EDIBLE FOURTH

Rick, how very, er, crummudgeony of you.

We can't allow ourselves to permanently slip into the national indegestion funk you've so perfectly described, though. Not when the future of America, the future of our children, is at stake.

That's sure as heck why I'm blogging. Depresses me sometimes... often, lately. BUT...

If even one mind is given pause by what we write about. If even just one more dollar is raised to help thwart the cancerious powers from within that mean to undermine everything on which our country was founded (read: ACLU). If even just one vote in congress is changed by the pressure we help put on our elected representatives.

What little dent we can make, let's go for it. (OK, grumpingly if we must.)

Cheer up! Eat a brat! Happy Fourth!

PS I'm going to a Memphis Red Birds minor league game with my extended in-law family today... After some great BBQ on Beale St. Can't wait! Minor league is the best for family fun and patriotism. (And, it hurts less when your team loses.)

THE LAST FULL MEASURE

Such a real president we have, Rick. And, such a true writer you are!

THE TOP 10 AMERICANS OF ALL TIME?

After I got over the dancing and "Nyah-nyahs" about a MODERN REPUBLICAN PRESIDENT getting #1 (I helped him and Bush stay up on that list, I confess), I settled down, read your post, and agree with you mostly, expecially re the need for an historical personage/founding father up top.

Sad as it may be for some, it's just hard to find a serious contender for a top-10 woman. Not because there aren't great women in our country, but there's a sampling error problem: most of the biggies are obviously men.

The Discovery Channel beauty contest was for amusement purposes only. Did Hamilton even make it on the TV list of top 25? (In deference to your aforementioned top 20 post, Rick - don't know enough to argue, though without him where would our economic system be?) Yearights: Oprah? Elvis? And, that devil messing on the blue dress, Clinton? I don't imagine that they had any true scholars assemble the original top 100 list, do you? Maybe it was all Matt's idea? He's not so good on psychiatry (according to Tom Cruise), but ya'd think... Surprised we didn't see George C. Scott on the list, one or two notches above Patton. LOL

SUPPORT THE TROOPS: BASH THE PENTAGON

It's one thing for the Pentagon to make tactical or even strategic errors in planning for possibles or eventuals in wartime. That's part of the truism that no plan for a war lasts intact after the action starts.

It's something else, and nothing short of ludicrous, to simply not learn from your mistakes.

How can we claim to have the best, most agile engine of war in the history of the world, and simply not be able to accommodate rapid R&D for acute problems, AND swift change in the supply line, do to bureaucratic inefficiencies?

This was frustrating to read, Rick, but so well presented. I'd like to see if some bloggers can defend the Pentagon on this issue. (Moonbats, go away.) The Pentagon certainly won't defend themselves in any well-articulated manner, besides their usual "we're doing what we can" line.

NEW FRIENDS AT "THE WIDE AWAKES"

Rick, Thanks for the linkies! Too kind. Criminy, I can't keep us all straight anymore. Some come, some go... have to get the automatic bologroll working in my own sidebar.

And,... the woman I married is damn near a Texan. She's really a Kansan, but went to college in Houston and has a brother & family living there now. Does that qualify her for honorary Texasship? Mustang, GM?
