Rick, I don't believe that it is accurate to say -
"Minorities who may have wanted to attend might not have been able to afford the trip as easily as their white counterparts."
Poor white people will have just as much trouble paying for airfare and high food prices as poor minorities.
While there are many poor minorities, there are a lot more (by number) poor white people.
