STILL MISSING THE BIG ONE

Andy,

It is actually downright scary what the CIA was once capable. Since the mid 1975s, they have become ham fisted. I mean they once knew that the Soviets and Chinese were having "issues". This is inspite of the fact that the majority of the world considered Communism as essentially a "Borg-like" entity.

MAKING OMELETTES IN THE MIDDLE EAST

Hey Rick,

Apparently that unmanned drone that hit the warship was really an Iranian radar guided C-802. From what I have read this type of weaponry needs training. Not only that but apparently to fire it there needs to be approval from Tehran. It seems there were 100 Iranian Revolutionary Guardsmen in Southern Lebanon to provide the expertise to fire the missile. The missiles that hit Haifa were Iranian made Fajr missiles.

Not to sound like a bitter ex-Democrat, but where are the guys I voted in the last two elections. Why aren't they doing or saying anything about what is going in the Middle East? Why doesn't Gore or Kerry say anything?

THE NEW YORK TIMES - ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE

Rick,

From what I understand, not very many reporters actually get to tag along with our own forces, and even fewer are even liked by the soldiers. Then again not very many journalists actually have the balls of Robert Kaplan. He actually joins Specials Force Units around the world, and he is actually respected by them. Maybe the Times' reporters felt so bad about being shunned by our military that started to field offers from various militia groups so they can report the war. Perhaps it is these new found friendships that prompted the Times to point out the weaknesses in the US Body Armor. Anyway, this is how we get back at them. We point the weaknesses in the body armor of New York Times reporters:

"OPERATION JUST REWARD" PENALIZING THE LEBANESE

mariner,

we have trouble with illegal aliens. nation that has been turmoil for more than thirty years. Even before the Civil War, they had major issues. So it is clear they have a load of security issues. Before we blindly label Lebanon as a nation of only Muslim extremists, people should know their paliament is evenly divided between Muslims and Christians.

Perhaps Palestine/Israel is the ManBear Pig that Al Gore should really be chasing.

Thank you Rick,

I was waiting for you to point out that this inflicting unnecessary damage to the Lebanese people. This intrusion into Lebanon will only sow the seeds of extremism. This could lead to an even more perilous situation for Israel. Another problem with the Israel's invasion is the fact that oil prices will go up. In fact, it has gone up already.

GawainsGhost;

Here is a stupid question. What is whole language learning?

Rick;

I am not sure if I mentioned this story here. One of my history professors(ironically a Berkeley doctrate.)He went to a seminar at Harvard, and it basically amounted to a roast of George W. Bush. Of course, W was no where to be seen. Essentially, they were making fun of the stupidity of Bush and the policy formers under him. My professor stood up and said they were being completely unfair. He stated that as historians their goal was to look at policies objectively not through partisan goggles. He also stated these guys could hardly be deemed stupid because they were former classmates and collegues of these Harvard professors. That made them quiet. Of course, outside of Europe my professor is not very popular. He is not a conservative. He is middle of the road, but he looks at history objectively which is actually frowned upon in academia these days.

PUNDITRY FOR A SUNDAY AFTERNOON

Rick,

We know how to deal with China. They have a giant monkey on their backs known as Russia. With Putin declaring his goal of reestablishing Russia as one of the world's nuclear powers, it will be clear that their will be border tensions between the two goliaths. Hell, they were at each others necks when on the surface they appeared to be allies. Now, Russia and China will staring each other down in as little as five years. China knows this. The Chinese needed our support in dealing with the Soviets. They will probably need our support in dealing with the Russians.

MISSILE TESTS PROVE KIM IS "RONERY" AGAIN

Rick,

It is apparent you are not a fan of "Juche". Anyway, it is not surprising the Taepodong 2 malfunctioned. If you have ever read Khrushchev's memoirs "Khrushchev remembers", then you would have realized he was scared shitless of the airplane he had to fly in. It was the Soviet equivalent of Air Force One. It was supposed to be the crown jewel of Soviet techonology, but low and behold ole Nikita was scared because it was half-assed Soviet technology. Now, compare that to country that is even more inept.

The Soviets spent 1/6 of their GNP(obviously the same as GDP on their military. Imagine a North Korean economy, that is struggling. It is safe to assume that have of their GNP is towards the military. Do you guys remember the jokes about SCUD missles? It is time to recycle them.

I would like to address the guy who says that Kim Jong Il isn't the head honcho. My friend works in customs at O'Hare. He encountered North Korean dignotaries. They all had giant Kim Jong Il buttons. Considering that and ole Kim averages 30 below par while playing golf, it is safe to assume who is in power. Then again with about half the economy dedicated to the military maybe they are the ones truly in charge.
