SMELLS LIKE VINDICATION TO ME

For a perspective of what I am talking about I would suggest for all to read this article that is one of the best I have seen on the subject.

It is well worth the time to read.

Rick

Just let me say I respectfully disagree with your assessment of of the situation.

To me the sticking point is the political will on the part of the Iraq government to do what they have to do to get the job done.

I follow a lot of blogs and simply you are going against the grain of what I read on the milblogs of those who have boots on the ground, Mike Yon and in depth review of the progress of the surge now in progress.

I could point you to many places that show a different picture from your conclusions.

So many want to try to draw parallels between Iraq and VietNam, but they are wrong.

A much better fit would be a comparison between Iraq and the French situation in Algeria.

GEORGE WHO?

Another point of support here, is the recent Novak column that GWB is gonna take his veto pen from single shot to full automatic over many upcoming pork , ah spending bills could have some with egg on their face if they get to far out front.

A CONVERSATION WITH MY DEAD FATHER

Rick

Your ruminations of your father on this day proves only one thing.

Your normal.

Of course that will come to a shock for some readers.

FRED: "BUT WILL YOU STILL LOVE ME TOMORROW?"

He may be a mystery to some at this point, but the bigger mystery in this race has to be Obama on the left.

ELITIST SNOB DISSES THE AMERICAN VOTER

I agree with you on the Bush (41) tax increase, but for the record the dems promised spending cuts to get his support and welshed on the deal.

To suspect that people now, in this world environment, would base it on a tax litmus test is not very likely.

REFLECTING ON 230 YEARS OF BLOOD AND SACRIFICE

Rick

Each loss is important, but anyone has to concede that the death toll over the length of this war is remarkably low.

If the IED threat could be neutralized a lot of issues would change. Also I note that our side is working as fast as they can to come up with counter measures for IED's and we are seeing good success in that area. It's not totally fixed but it is getting better.

I also know the surge will result in higher death rates.

We are taking the fight to areas we have basically skirted around before and the increased level on confrontation will have it's results.

Prolonged war makes people weary , especially in our short attention span theater society.

Well they better adjust because this is going to be a long haul to stamp out.

If AQ senses the end is near here, they will pop up issues in as many other places as they can.

Witness Lebanon, Morocco, France and some Germany issues.

If you can't work you way to a military bar , at least try to observe an example of the Patriot Guard riders somewhere near you. It brings to focus a lot of things.

Even in you posts on 24 I have noticed the shift.

In some ways I wonder if your are commenting on Jack's moral compass or in some way questioning yours in some small way as you carry on.

Rick

I don't know what has happened to you, but I have watched the transition over the last year or so.

Your assertion we fought wars for conquest flies in reality of what we have done.

As to how wars are fought, please give me an example of a war that went by the book and someone had the perfect plan from the git go.

And don't give me the soft memory of loved ones lost. Each is a searing pain that reaches into our soul to give us the fire to carry on and recharge the resolution we already have.

Do me a favor , take a trip where ever you have to and sit down at a booth in a military bar and just watch and observe for a few hours. You don't even have to interact with them.

Actually that should be do yourself a favor.

PROM DATE WITH A PIG

What I meant more is active poster commentors on blogs I visit.

I am sorry but usually the responses here I can count on one hand or two.

The busy interactive blogs are pushing high number thread counts.

That says a lot.
