MUST IT BE ROMNEY IN 2012?

In 2005, Kerry and Clinton were the odds on favoites to fight it out for the 2008 nomination. Even as late as the early 2007, Clinton was far and away the front runner. Obama was back in the field.

The GOP needs to solidify behind a leader, not just another "It's his turn to try on the mantle" kind of canidadate ala McCain and Dole. I believe the 2010 midterms will sort out a lot of the drama regarding the issues that will step up to the fore for 2012. If the economy is still the driving factor in 2010, then Romney may very well be the front man the GOP needs.

CUSTER'S BAD REP DESERVED -- SORT OF

Custer will forever be remembered for his inglorious death at Little Big Horn. That is unfortunate for he should also be remembered for his actions during the Gettysburgh Campaign. For the better part of three days, he kept Jeb Stuart and his Cavaly Corps (the best in the world at that time) from rejoining the main body of Lee's Army of Northern Virginia. By doing so, he kept Lee's "eyes and ears" away from the main battle. As a result, Lee was deaf and blind to the activities of the Army of the Potomac. Without the cavalry providing Lee with intelligence of Federal actions behind the lines and screening Federal Cavalry from attaining the same information about his movements, he had no intelligence assets to draw upon to assist him in determining the Federal actions or intent. He was fighting this battle blind. And the result was indicative of the importance of that fact.

Custer's action against Stuart provided the "fog of war" the Federals needed to defeat Lee.

MY TOP TEN FAVORITE MOVIE FIGHT SCENES OF ALL TIME

Of all of these fights, not one is the classic Barroom Brawl. And for that honor I would nominate the Barroom Fight Scene in "The Devils Brigade".

CAN GINGRICH RIDE AN ANTI-ESTABLISHMENT WAVE TO THE OVAL OFFICE?

Cheney and Gingrich prove there are counters to the personal magnetism of Obama and that is intellect and adherence to principle. Obama looks sharp but if his last two speeches are any indication, he has hit his zenith and is quickly falling by the wayside. He can only carry the "Let's all hate Bush" mantra only so far and he has stretched that dogma all out of shape by now. Bush did not make him sign the executive order closing Gitmo without a plan in hand to do so. Bush did not offer consultation with Iran with no preconditions. These were all Obama's doing - along with bailing out the Automakers, the Stimulus Bill, and assorted other financial and foreign policy blunders that now force him to stay in perpetual compaign mode in order to keep his positives as high as possible in order to manage the massive agenda he has set for himself.

IS THE GOP ANTI-SCIENCE? OR JUST ANTI-RATIONALIST?

"Just because you detest Al Gore doesn’t mean all climate science is junk."

Al Gore has made more money turning people on to a consensus than Bernie Madoff ever dreamed of. When you look up the word consensus, you find ther definition "1) Collective Opinion 2) General Accord." Nowhere do you see any reference to science. In fact when you look up the term Politics, you find "1) The art or science of government." (Both courtesy of Webster's II New Riverside Dictionary)

Neither of them would lead you to believe that science has ever been "settled." And yet that is what Gore states over and over. We have had scientific consensus time and again that was WRONG. The Earth is Flat. (Flat Earth Society still believes it to this day) The Earth is the Center of the Universe. And the list goes on and on. A consensus has nothing to do with science and every thing to do with politics.

I don't know if the AGW theory regarding Climate is correct or not but I do know that when someone stands up and says I should be treated like a holocaust denier if I question it waves a huge red flag in my face.

And, for the record I am a conservative. And also for the record, I am an environmental professional. And as far as AGW is concerned the debate is still on and the matter has not been "settled."

DEMOCRATIC PARTY PARTISANS TO 'OUT' GAY REPUBLICANS

In the recent past, the line used by the press was slowly creeping away from the center but today it seems to be careening wildly to the left and even beyond.

And the one question I do not see being asked or answered is why? Why has MSM slunk so low? And I would be asking this question regardless of the tilt - right or left.

The press, the media, MSM if you will was widely regarded as the fourth estate. That extra check and balance of our political system that the founding fathers could not seem to wedge into the constitutional process - even though it was influential in determining the constitiutional development of the day with the publication and debate centered around the Federalist Papers and other publication of note in those days.

In its history, there have been mild swings to the left and right (Remember the Maine?) that have been looked on by historians as dark chapters of our history. Dark not only because of the events of the day - Dark because one of those great checks and balances of our system was out of whack and our system tilted as a result.

But why the tilt so far to the left today by the media? Does the fear of the result of honest reporting scare the press powers of the day that they see honest reporting as snuggling up to some right wing demon in their minds? Or is it simply that this fourth estate that we have so lovingly relied upon was never the credible agent we always thought it was.

What's the answer. I for one would like to know.

WHY DO CONSERVATIVES SEE RED WHEN OBAMA TALKS GREEN?

I work in the environmental field and have done so for the past 20 years. I do not have a problem with any efforts to clean our air and waters. And the results of the environemtal efforts in this country to date show the effects. People need to remember the Monongahela river on fire in the 1970s. Lake Erie being declared a "Dead Zone" during the same period. Lead poisoning affecting chldren along highways throughout this country from lead based gasolines.

Today, our lakes and rivers are cleaner than they have been in 150 years. Lake Erie is hosting Bass tournaments. One car from 1970 creates more emissions than 400 cars of similar make and model off the production lines of today. Lead is almost unheard of as a pollutant for virtually the entire country. And all of this improvement was done without affecting the industrial base of our country.

Can more improvement be made? Yes. But more importantly, improvements must be made outside of the US. The air we breathe today was air over Siberia not more than two weeks ago. Of all the countries who signed the Kyoto Accords, not one of them can compare their environmental and emission record since that signing to the evil US. And as you yourself stated, "cap and trade may prove to be one of the biggest boondoggles in the history of government - without reducing carbon emissions by one molecule."

I am not against going green but I am definitely reluctant to convert our entire industrial base on the promise of untried and unproven green technologies. I also do not see the merit in eliminating any drilling on or near the US. If you want to see complete and utter disregard for the environment, try visiting an oil drilling site in Nigeria or Liberia, or virtually any place you would like to name in the third world and even most places you could name in the West. The most stringent environmental laws and rules regarding drilling are in place here in the good ol' USA.

I am not against going green but I am most definitely against stupid policies, green or otherwise! We can go green - smartly, not blindly like we are in effect trying to do it now.

THE TRUTH WILL SET YOU FREE

OK, call it torture. Criminalize it. Put it into the books as part of the Federal code.

Next time you need it, I hope there is someone out there with the stones to do what needs to be done and then turns himself in.

If lives were saved by the actions of this person - torture or not - good luck getting a conviction!

Feel better now?

OBAMA'S FORIEGN TRIP ABOUT WHAT YOU'D EXPECT FROM A LIBERAL ROOKIE

"Even Barney Frank would be insulted at having Obama’s performance being compared to his record.

If Obama had a record to compare it with!

"As for conservatives? You’re not even in the game right now. And unlikely to get back in any time soon."

November 2010 is 20 months away - and counting! Soon enough for you?
