THE LEFT IS ABSOLUTELY RIGHT ABOUT JOE WILSON

This type of humor only works if your own party doesn’t suck on so many basic and fundamental levels.

Meanwhile Wilson's opponent who was barely competitive 48 hours ago is fast closing in on $1,000,000 in donations and at this rate will all the money he needs to crush this jerk.

Then there's that little matter of Joe Wilson's membership in the Sons of the Confederacy.

Joe also has been a member of the Columbia World Affairs Council, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Sinclair Lodge 154, Jamil Temple, Woodmen of the World, Sons of Confederate Veterans

Experts say the divisions within the Sons vary between two extremes. On one side are the traditionalists, members who focus on cleaning up Confederate grave sites and conducting Civil War re-enactments.

On the other side are the so-called Lunatics, up to 2,000 members who deride traditionalists as "grannies'' and belong to camps named after notorious Southern figures such as John Wilkes Booth and Jesse James.

John Wilkes Booth members have been known to put pennies in urinals, making sure to leave the Lincoln side face-up. Other Lunatic groups have removed the U.S. flag from their halls and banned the Pledge of Allegiance, says Walter Hilderman, who several years ago created an anti-Lunatic group called Save the Sons of Confederate Veterans.

"The problem is it's supposed to be a patriotic organization," says Hilderman, 59. "You are either that or you let guys in who want to secede."

Southern Man

You have the sense of humor of a toad.

And what - no comment about the left going ape over this while Democrats booed Bush and called him a liar?

Gee...what a surprise THAT is - hypocrite.

WOULD SOMEONE ON THE LEFT PLEASE EXPLAIN THIS TO ME?

Other than being a venomous, sick, twisted liar and Goebbels-imitating shrill hatemongering propagandist?

And yet you provide no examples to justify your over the top spew. What exactly has he said that qualifies comparing he to Goebbels. And he's mongered hate, it what way?

What a shame that you cannot bring yourself to give credit where credit is due.

Even a stopped analog clock is right twice a day.

You’re right, Rick. You are getting old. Me, I’ll only be 52 in October. But that’s not why your head is exploding. You’re trying to apply logic and reason to liberal thought. That’s like trying to push a rope. You know better.

A comforting thought I am sure.

There will now be hue and cry over Jones, breathless cries of how disaster was just averted through Glenn Beck risking life and limb to bring down the Green Jobs Czar and I am sure it will figure prominently in the plot of next season's 24.

On our side of the aisle not many people really give a damn and those that do have other a lot bigger fish to fry so that this will not even make it to the end of this week as a hot issue.

Cheney’s death squads.

The wording may sound dramatic, but some very reasonable people do have a problem with independent contractors being hired by the CIA to carry out assassinations of Al-Queda members.

Not because Al-Queda are good guys but because if the government deems the information credible and they are sure they are killing the right people then it should be our duly sworn agents pulling the trigger, not members of Blackwater doing the job so they can be held accountable if there are avoidable civilian casualties.

As we can see from recent events in Afghanistan where perhaps hundreds of civilians were killed in attacks that were carried in in violation of the rules of procedure laid down to our forces: using a single source of intelligence.

If you're going to kill people make sure it's the right people and take as few non-combatants with them as can be avoided.

Church leaders are demanding an in-depth investigation into the controversial accident in which the Peruvian air force opened fire on a Cessna 185 floatplane April 20.

The Peruvian officers mistakenly thought that the plane, flying from the Colombian border towards the city of Iquitos, 600 miles northeast of Lima, was ferrying drug-traffickers. Two of the passengers, an American missionary from the Association of Baptists for World Evangelism (ABWE), Veronica "Roni" Bowers, and her 7-month-old daughter, Charity, were killed instantly when bullets tore through the fuselage.

There are conflicting reports about who is to blame. A U.S. surveillance plane, operated by three Central Intelligence Agency contract employees, was providing routine support last Friday morning and alerted the Peruvian air force to the presence of the Cessna, which they believed to be flying without a flight plan. The Baptist floatplane was flying over a jungle area rife with drug smugglers who frequently use clandestine landing strips and Amazon tributaries to pick up coca paste shipments.

Sounds like a pretty non-hysterical interpretation of that issue.

BTW, could someone please tell me what it is Keith Olbermann has done that is so offensive?

He's spent the last five years or so making the case about Michelle Bachmann, Glenn Beck, Hannity, the militia nuts, Switftboaters, and birthers being illustrative of the paranoia you've now decided is not good for the GOP.

I've rarely found his Worst Person in the World to not be deserving of the title and his running feud with O'Reilly might be a little old.

So what exactly is the deal that you'd put him in the league as Glenn Beck.

I'll give it a go.

A man that almost no one has heard of named Van Jones is appointed to a newly created administration position designed mainly to reach out to people who are intensely interested in Green issues.

Glenn Beck, a man lots of people have heard of, but only believed by people who are loony attacks the previously little known Van Jones painting him as more important to the Obama administration that the head of the CIA.

Jones who unwisely boasted of being a communist at some point in his academic career (as opposed to bhaving been an actual Marxist like David Horowitz), who signed a petition circulated by the Truthers, and who uttered to beyond the pale words that Republicans are a**holes quits.

Glenn Beck who is at the centr of your own crusade to save the Republican party from itself claims a victory and amps up his crazy even louder. Meeanwhile some liberals who dspair of allowing even a shaky membr of their team to be hounded in this way defend him.

Finally Van Jones, who was otherwise unknown to most of the public that supports Obama is only slightly less unknown but still pretty much unknown and unremarkable for people mostly concerned with keeping their house and job.

That's about it.

Too much Glen Beck. I don't think Jones would have resigned if the man I referred to as a "kook" was on his case (Beck is not at the "center of my own crusade" to save the GOP nor is he outside some of the screwier base). Had to be more than that - much more.

Downplaying his importance is fascinating. That's actually a good tactic - despite the fact that Valerie Jarrett herself and most of the lefty blogs were gushing about him and how vital it was for the promotion of "green jobs." "He's a nutter but he's not that important and besides, this is a - wait for it - DISTRACTION!!!!" If this were truly the case, one would have to admire liberals who for 8 years of Bush were constantly being "distracted" by personnel and issues like this. Then, it was vital to the republic. Now? Not so much.

Still haven't addressed the major issue I would sincerely like answered; was this guy fit to work in the White House? Did anything in his past - anything at all - disqualify him?

MOVEMENT CONSERVATIVES vs. THE PRAGMATISTS: THE BATTLE IS JOINED

John Said:
5:53 pm

the original article is now located at:

http://www.tnr.com/article/politics/conservatism-dead

How did this happen? One reason is that the most intellectually sophisticated founders of postwar conservatism were in many instances ex-Marxists, who moved from left to right but remained persuaded that they were living in revolutionary times and so retained their absolutist fervor. In place of the Marxist dialectic they formulated a Manichaean politics of good and evil, still with us today, and their strategy was to build a movement based on organizing cultural antagonisms. Many have observed that movement politics most clearly defines itself not by what it yearns to conserve but by what it longs to destroy--"statist" social programs; "socialized medicine"; "big labor"; "activist" Supreme Court justices, the "media elite"; "tenured radicals" on university faculties; "experts" in and out of government.

So basically a bunch of Marxists joined the right-wing conservative movement forty years ago, took it over and almost destroyed America from the inside?

You've got to wonder if ex-Marxists like David Horowitz aren't really still a part of the Brotherhood of Evil Muntants and that he, as Magneto is having a glass of wine every night saying to himself "suckers".

HOLY CHRIST! WHERE HAS JOE KLEIN BEEN THE LAST 8 YEARS?

As s disabled veteran who re-enlisted on a frozen hill overlooking North Korea’s propaganda village near Panmunjom, voicing my opinions over the inconsistencies in the language used by the administration unleashed ferocious, irrational attacks on my character, intelligence, and patriotism by those “shallow” conservatives who were apparently willing to apologize for or defend anything conducted or suggested by the administration.

Preach it.

Back in 2004 I already saw the damage being done to the Army. and despite my belief that starting war in Iraq was wrong when we hadn't finished our commitment in Afghanistan, I looked seriously into re-enlisting at age 48. The didn't take me then, but wonder if I had tried again a few years later when they we're raking anyone who could carry a weapon.

It is the maimed in the thousands and the bungling of the war, not to mention the opportunities missed to establish a stable Afghanistan coupled with people who had never found their way to a recruiting office calling me that really made my blood boil.

What as waste, from the unity of 9/12 to a candya** like Glenn Beck adotping that as his own.

I'll be happy to count myself among the crowd saying Bush == Hitler was stupid, and to remind folks the #1 meme, that MoveOn.org ran ads comparing Bush to Hitler never, never, ever happened.

What did happen is the ran a contest (which I entered) called Bush in :30. They foolishly setup the process for uploading the videos so there was no pre-screening, their intention that the community would mod-down any outrageous materials.

One fellow, out of thousands submitted the clip. It was immediately removed once they were made aware of it and they changed the process going forward. But by then the damage was down. The key point though is that MoveOn never paid a dime for airtime to run the ad, it was only seen as part of the news stories about the clip's short time on the web.

This incident is one reason why I rarely get exercised about drive-by posters on sites on either side of the issues. It's too easy for someone to plant the you know what word on a right leaning site and claim injury, or laud Castro on progressive sites.

Lastly, any hint that Cynthia McKinney or any of the other few wack jobs among the Democrats have or had any major influence on policy is silly.

It's a world of difference from a back-bench member of congress spreading conspiracy theory as opposed to the former candidate for Vice-President of the GOP or a senior legislator like Chuck Grassley, Newt Gingrich or even the head of the GOP Michael Steele talking about Obama wanting to ice granny.

Compare apples to apples please.
