STOP. THINK. GO BACK.

But seriously, what can you say about a process that produces such a behemoth?

Neil Stephenson's Baroque Cycle is over 3,000 pages. The Lord of the Rings around he same, yet somehow Peter Jackson managed to read, decipher it's meaning and translate it to the big screen.

What difference does the page count of the bill make? Seriously?

THE DEMONS ARE STIRRING AGAIN

Add to that the global warming sermon that is required at the end of every nature or critter show these days, and you get the worst sort of propaganda.

That 2012 is hype does not make Global Warming a myth. Disasters do happen and the next Tunguska might be the ELE that erases us the way the dinosaurs were wiped out.

I certainly think it makes more sense to spend a few billion looking out for big rocks that might drop in on us from the depths of space, especially since we have evidence of it happening before.

All this has happened before and will happen again, just a question is when. Does the Earth get walloped seven days from now or seven billion years from now?

I'd like to think we aren't depending on Bruce Willis to save us and that there is some research into some means of deflection because unless we have warning greater than a few years we're toast.

While it seems feasible to nudge a rock a degree or two off it's path if you apply steady force for a year or two, can you do the same for a comet? Do you send a manned mission or robotic?

I don't spend my night sweating over it, but it is a statistical probability above zero and sometimes you do get the black marble.

And we wonder why so many believe in ghosts?

Really? There happens to be an entire religion, one I ascribe to, built on belief in one holy ghost who was came into this life following a virgin birth.

If you don't know what you're talking about -re: mysteries of the trinity - please don't display your ignorance for all to see.

THE DIFFERENT REALITY INHABITED BY THE CONSERVATIVE BASE

I have never seen a good debate, between two knowledgeable parties, where the conservative, “paranoid” point of view has been destroyed.

So Obama is not only a Kenyan Manchurian Candidate who had his biography written by Willam Ayers, he is really the Anti-Christ who conceived the Swine Flu hoax to force Americans to receive the mark of the beast ahead of the Rapture.

Okay.

… the mocking of their beliefs and values by elites and liberals is not imagined.

Which values are those. Core values used to mean women should earn less than men. Liberals fought and won that fight along with the one on minimum wage and Title IX that elevated women's sports to funding levels that were no longer a joke.

That married couples shouldn't have access to birth control drugs and devices?

In 1961 Estelle Griswold, the wife of an Episcopal minister, and Dr. Lee Buxton, a licensed physician and a professor at Yale Medical School, were arrested, tried and convicted as accessories in crime. Their offense? Providing information, instruction and medical advice on contraception to married couples.

There are conservatives to this day fighting not only abortion but access to drugs to prevent pregnancy in the first place.

Maybe it's value that people in love should be able to get married regardless of gender? This is a fight that probably would have been settled years ago except that conservatives fight not only gay marriage but domestic partnerships as well.

Freedom of religion? With over a half million churches in this country Christianity is hardly an endangered belief. But Muslims, Jews, and even non-believers want their values respected too. One way to do that is to keep your religion out of the schools and where it belongs, at your house of worship or at home. Conservatives want the state to teach religion.

Conservatives both claim to fear the state and at the same time demand the state enforce their morality over all others.

You fought the culture wars and lost. Hence the freak out over Obama, the evidence of your failure to make this country into a theocracy made in the image of Jerry Falwell and Randall Terry. It was poor Teri Schiavo that started the realization of the all important 2% that something was seriously wrong with the GOP.

Despite the reality of her brain being basically mush you have senator diagnosing her condition and ready to run roughshod over the poor husband. That woke a lot of people up to what we already knew.

Then there's the problem of the champions of your values, Rush Limbaugh drug addict, Bill Bennett gambling addict, Senator Vitter sex addict, and Larry Craig closet case. Up against a man still on his first wife with two amazing children, morality's champions don't look so hot.

Good luck retooling and finding fresh talent to espouse your values.

You'll certainly need it.

One surprise for my lefty friends; race has little or nothing to do with the hard right’s opposition to Obama

No surprise at all.

We are talking about both/and, not either/or.

The watermelon jokes, gorilla & chimpanzee comments, and the witch doctor posters == both.

The X-Files black helicopter conspiracy junk == and. (Only this time the Cigarette Smoking Man is Obama.)

THE NFL IS WORRIED ABOUT A 'RACIST' OWNER?'

Its Kickoff Time.

Yes the country will rise in in one mighty voice at the injustice Rush Limbaugh finally paying the price for having insulted blacks, women, and Latinos for the last twenty-five years.

He just take a break in the Dominican Republican again. Clear his head.

Jindal said the state judiciary committee should review the incident in which Keith Bardwell, justice of the peace for Tangipahoa Parish's 8th Ward, refused to issue a marriage license to Beth Humphrey, 30, and her boyfriend, Terence McKay, 32, both of Hammond.

"This is a clear violation of constitutional rights and federal and state law. ... Disciplinary action should be taken immediately -- including the revoking of his license," the Republican governor said.

Humphrey said on Thursday that she called Bardwell on October 6 to ask about getting a marriage license, and was asked by his wife whether it would be an interracial marriage. Humphrey said she was told that Bardwell does not sign off on interracial marriages.

She said the couple, who received their marriage license October 9 from another justice of the peace in the same parish, have reached out to an attorney to determine their next step.

"We would like him to resign," she said. "He doesn't believe he's being racist, but it is racist."

What an overreaction. The man is obviously being a racial provocateur.

Get that man a football team. Or an exorcism.

So there’s no advantage to actually being a racist, but there is an advantage to acting like one?

At least until yesterday.

My heart bleeds.

Rush is a racial provocateur pointing out the fact that cries of racism are overblown. No one holds truly racist attitudes anymore.

NEW ORLEANS — A Louisiana justice of the peace said he refused to issue a marriage license to an interracial couple out of concern for any children the couple might have. Keith Bardwell, justice of the peace in Tangipahoa Parish, says it is his experience that most interracial marriages do not last long.

"I'm not a racist. I just don't believe in mixing the races that way," Bardwell told the Associated Press on Thursday. "I have piles and piles of black friends. They come to my home, I marry them, they use my bathroom. I treat them just like everyone else."

Bardwell said he asks everyone who calls about marriage if they are a mixed race couple. If they are, he does not marry them, he said.
