SHARP LEFT TURN AHEAD

7) Nick:
If we reamin divided then we will always be struggling. For many, there is very little difference tween left and right in what we desire. Quit trying to make it 'Us vs Them'. Work on making it 'Us'. The center is bigger then either of the sides.

Next election cycle is 2 years away. Start working on getting the people you like elected. In the mean time you could try holding the folks in office responsible. Actually watch what they do, point out stuff that is wrong, etc. But instead your discussing taking up arms against the government? Guess you don't really have faith in the American democratic system.

As to remaking America in ways our Founding Fathers never intended... Jefferson suggested a convention every 20 years to make changes to the Constitution because he realized that the only thing that stays the same is change. I don't think that those wise men who were embracing radical new thought and concepts, expected America to be a stagnet pool. I think they expected us to continue to strive to improve upon thier ideas. How do we boldly go forth into the future, if we are afraid to let go of any of the ideas of the past? The world is no longer the world they lived in.

We keep asking the Constitution to spell out more and more thing, making that great and simple document less elegent by takining on more amendments, when several of them would have been unnessicary with the simple changing of one word: "All People are created Equal" vs "All Men are created Equal"

'WE DIDN'T KNOW" WILL NOT BE AN ACCEPTED EXCUSE

For every prediction that gets it right, there are far more that are not even close.

You are saying that after running a very long and close primary that no one thought he had much chance of winning, followed by a very succcesful presidential campaign... that he doesn't know what it takes to make thing work?

You fear that he might let the education heads try something different? Have you seen the cesspool many of our school systems are? Or is it just that you are against children being taught more then just the 4Rs, and maybe even be allowed to have independent thoughts and encouraged to ask questions?

You belive that any movement away from our current energy set-up could go badly, while many of us see this as a chance for small local start ups to be inovative, and changes to all of our technology to happen at a pace not seen since the first decade of the 20th century. High school kids built a car that does 0-60mph in 4 seconds while getting 60mpg. Dozens of people converting old gas powered cars in their garages to run on electric, Neil Young's 2.5ton, 19.5 foot long 1959 Lincoln gets the equivalent of 75mpg. Companies installing wind and solar power generators on their factories, and saving millions of dollars. But it's not oil and coal, so you are against this inovation.

At what point has Obama said anything about not supporting Isreal?

But this is America, land of the free (and home of a lot of people who are afraid of Obama), were each and everyone of us is allowed to voice his or her opinion. So please continue to voice your's.

I'd hate to live in a place where those who disagree with me were not allowed to speak.

WHO ARE YOU CALLING A MODERATE?

I thought they sounded real nice, and should be someone's political rant somewhere... but after a bit of searching the net for things like: "thought out solutions to the country’s problems" and "liberal bashing is not a political philosophy", I realized that no one has ever put those words together before.

Please do continue to spout such words of wisdom. They might just be the basis for a realistic political party. Even if you had to get rid of the first line, you'd still have something better then what I am currently hearing from many people.

As someone who recently got pointed at this site and liked some of what I read I'd like to add a defense for those who abandoned McCain when he apointed Palin.

If you have a partnership in a company that has a pretty good CEO, and he picks someone as his replacement whom you think is going to run the company into the ground, and who is not of the same mindset as the current CEO... are you a traitor if you sell your partnership and invest it into something that is more likely to keep making money?
