Your general supposition with this post implies that you think the (formerly) mainstream media has some passing interest in the truth. They have zero desire for truth. Seriously.
They want to sell newspapers, period. And sensationalism sells. Therefore, if they can make something look more violent or bloody, or even more interesting, they will do so, no matter what the truth may be.
They honestly do not CARE what the truth is. Their business is NOT the truth. Their business is entertainment.

Indeed, a good analysis. That's my question to Republican incumbents running this year: Why in the world should I vote for you? The only answers I can get are all negatives: "So X doesn't happen."
It's not working on me, but there's no elections in any of my districts this year, anyway (everyone from dog catcher to US House Rep is unopposed).

I'm with kreiz: I don't think even a nuclear strike by Iran on Israel would be enough for the US to use nukes. The left would argue against it because it's mean, the Republicans would argue against it because it would "make enemies."
Me, I'd be held back by guard from pushing the damn button. I don't think we have the will to use nukes, and I think Iran knows it.

At least you have a choice.
Here in my district in North Carolina, all decisions have already been made. There is no competition for federal elections, none for state-level, and none locally (other than a judge or two).
And be aware that not every polling place allows write-ins -- they are not permitted in North Carolina unless the person who is to be written in has "qualified," following a long and tedious process -- otherwise your write in is simply not counted.
