THE UNDISCOVERED COUNTRY

"I hold out little hope that he will do so. "

Times change, people don`t.

LOUDER PLEASE...THE CRICKETS ARE CHIRPING

What this woman said was vile, and she is probably a pretty disturbed person, but it was not a death threat — please cut the bullshit.

If you do consider saying that she’d rejoice in hearing of the kid’s death to be a death threat, what’s your take on this post by Thomas (admin of RedState, one of the biggest conservative blogs, not some obscure unknown nobody like this woman):

“I repeat: Should the entire American Left fall over dead tomorrow, I would rejoice, and order pizza to celebrate. They are not my countrymen; they are animals who happen to walk upright and make noises that approximate speech. They are below human. I look forward to seeing each and every one in Hell.”

By your own standards of what is an expression of murderous intentions, isn’t Thomas up there with Hitler and Stalin? Actually, he's even worse -- Hitler and Stalin never tried to murder half their countries' population, you have to go to Pol Pot for that.

This stuff is regular fare in mainstream conservative blogs — those with the largest audiences. On the liberal side you’ll only hear it from people on the fringes that nobody reads (and thank God for that).

JULY 3, 1863

Rick,

This was a very ingenious series on posts on Gettysburg written from a blogosphere perspective. I enjoyed them immensely and directed my Civil War readers your way.

MURTHA: OLD SOLDIERS SHOULD JUST FADE AWAY

I don't agree with your conclusions but I just wanted to leave a quick note giving you props for your tone. It was refreshing to read legitimate criticism of Murtha's views without challenging his patriotism, ect. I hope more bloggers follow your lead.

ANN COULTER: CONSERVATIVE LOUT

“When was the last time you saw one of Ted Kennedy’s incoherent rants brought to task by Kos kids or readers over at DU? Or Pelosi? Or Dean? Or Durbin?

I think I hear crickets chirping…”

See, it's reality-challenged idiocies like the above that make me think conservatives really do have a maximum IQ. Here's the point: liberals do not call for their opponents' death; conservatives do. It is not true that conservatives are all evil, but it is true that nearly all evil people are conservative.

MAN, IT'S A BITCH SPEAKING TRUTH TO POWER...EVEN WHEN YOU'RE NOT

On that subject, here is what “speaking truth to power” means when addressing the First Lady of the United States:

then you quote something that colbert said...but the president...the president...said about the first lady in his comic monologue...she is "hot"...muy caliente...I found that totally inappropriate.Sounded so much like some jock bragging that he nailed the head cheerleader... We are at war and the president has time to practice from January til the end of April on what amounts to a high school skit.

White House Letter
A New Set of Bush Twins Appear at Annual Correspondents' Dinner

By ELISABETH BUMILLER
Published: May 1, 2006

With his approval ratings in the mid-30's and a White House beset by troubles, there is some evidence that Mr. Bush worked harder on his performance this year than in the past. At the very least, he started focusing on his stand-up as long ago as January, when he asked Dan Bartlett, the White House counselor, to contact Mr. Bridges and Landon Parvin, a longtime speechwriter.

THE DECISION

I am with Jack and Audrey. But my problem overall is with the terrorists finding out that Jack wasn't Rossler. The guy knew Jack would've overheard his order to kill him, so would've assumed Jack took out the other terrorist just to save his own skin. If CTU hadn't rushed into the building immediately, he could have escaped with at least far less suspicion that he was being followed, and with no clue that Jack had disarmed the nerve gas. The quick evacuation of the building would have been easily explained by the security guard who was on his way into the room.

MORE TWISTED INTEL FROM THE BUSH ADMINISTRATION

It seems that someone in Clinton's administration thought there was a connection between Iraq and al Qaeda; enough to state that there was in the indictment of OBL for the Arican embassy bombings. So my question to liberals is - how did Bush manage to lie about that intelligence to the FBI .. back in 1998?

"In addition, al Qaeda reached an understanding with the Government of Iraq that al Qaeda would not work against that government and that on particular projects, specifically including weapons development, al Qaeda would work cooperatively with the Government of Iraq," the indictment said.

MORE JAW DROPPING IDIOCY FROM THE TIMES

Reporters have the right to protect their sources from my point of view as long as their is no criminality involved in what the source is communicating to the new agency. When the law is broken the Media goes from being a news source to an accomplice and therefore have the choice of facing criminal prosecution or releasing the information to investigators. Non-negotiable.
