CONSERVATIVES KEEP LEARNING THE WRONG LESSONS FROM REAGAN

Hey Joe -

Sorry, but you are a complete idiot. Don't know if you're new, but Rick has admitted on many occasion that Obama is a brilliant politician. But, that is all he (Obama) ever has been and all he ever will be ... a politician. Political astuteness does not necessarily equate to acutal leadership capability and as evidenced by our current crop of congress critters (on both sides of the aisle) the two are usually mutually exclusive.

CBO ESTIMATES ON OBAMACARE TOP $1 TRILLION

Michael R.

"I think people should pay by ability pay" ... And who gets to determine what that amount is? I know your answer ... why, the government of course. Which puts us exactly in the mess we are in now where the goverment has decided 40% (and soon to be 50% or more) don't have to pay anything and all the other 'rich' people get to pay for themselves as well as those who don't pay a dime. Until EVERYONE actually and truly has some skin in the game we will NEVER be able to devise a system that will cover everyone and be fair (as possible) to everyone. I know your enamoration with the current administration and how it's going to rescue us from the mess that is the sole responsibility of the 'the past 8 years of the evil, Republican Bush tenure', but the reality of the situation goes so far beyond the past 8 years and crosses party lines. We can blog and post here about which party's fault it is (both), but until you and others like you can come to the realization that it makes no difference what-so-ever which party is currently in power we are doomed forever to failure. Sorry, but until there is a fundamental change and our govermental system returns to running how it was intended and how it was written in the Constitution, I truly fear for economic well-being and viability. Medicaid already runs at a deficit, while Medicare and Social Security gain momentum and will soon follow it. I no faith in our government's ability to come up with a healty care system that will do anything other than pull the lever and flush it all down the drain.

CAGE MATCH: CRIST vs. RUBIO

Rick -

Although you touch on it somewhat, you are missing another very important angle on this story. The FL GOP committee has already thrown their support hat into Crist's ring as has, for the most part, the National committee. There has been a storm already brewing here in the state of Florida regarding the state's GOP leader's (Jim Greer) heavy-handed handling over the presidential and other elections. There is a very strong backlash building as the state GOP committee seems to be committed to a course of 'we will dictate to you' (the county and local GOP committees) regarding your committee membership as well as your endorsement choices in elections. There have even been calls to simply support Crist from the get-go completely and just skip the whole primary process because they (FL GOP) know better who we should vote for. At least two county GOP party committees so far have drafted letters of condemnation over these actions basically demanding that the FL GOP back the f!*^ off and save their endorsements until the primary process is completed. More than a few folks simply want to have a fair opportunity to vote for and select our own choice of candidate through an unbiased as possible primary process. We (the Florida voters) screwed the pooch and were more than helpful in getting McCain selected in presidential primary and many see Crist as being of the same mold. Things are going to get very hot and steamy down here in FL and it's not just going to be the weather.

NEWS FROM THE FRINGES

Ken -

Sorry, but your analogy is lacking at best, so let me help you out with what is so blindingly left out by you and your type ...

What you forget to mention is that Tom was a knowing participant in at least the last 2 years of Bob's financial malfeasance. Tom, along with his odd and assorted aunts, uncles, cousins and sundry other shirt-tail relatives were all co-signers on the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th 'second-mortgages' that were already taken out on the family house under Bob's tenure as CFO. Now that Bob is gone and Tom is in charge, it is completely disingenuous (read a complete and total LIE) to claim no responsibility whatsoever for the mess he had a hand (however small) in helping create. What is even more absurd is Tom's notion that the 'solution' to this all is to take out a new 'super-mortgage' that in and of itself is going to cost more than total of Bob's original mortgage + all the 'second' mortgages he (Bob) co-signed for + plus all the mortgages and second mortgages of the previous 42 owners of the house.

If that is too complicated for you wrap your brain around, let me simplify. You can NOT get out of debt by exponentially increasing your debt. The whole second mortgage game played by so many in this country is what caused this mess. Yes, Bush was a financial dolt, but Obama is making him look bush league (pun intended) when it comes to comparing their abilities to rack up massive and unsustainable levels of debt. Our current CFO is on track to create more debt by his very own lonesome than the previous 43 occupants of the White House combined. Sorry, but there is absolutely no way on God's green earth to justify that.

NOT A MISPRINT: OBAMA SEEKS CUTS OF 100 MILLION TO CURB DEFICIT

Pretty bad when the in-the-bag Obama lovers at MSNBC pretty much echo Rick's sentiments about the utter insignificance of measely $100 million cut in spending. They note that amount is about equal to the DAILY interest we are paying for Obama's bloated stimulus bill. Better yet, they get 90 days to make there recommendations, so by that time I have no doubt whatsoever that some new spending boondaggle will have been proposed and passed ... the upcoming cap and trade fiasco now that CO2 has been declared a pollutant comes to mind. I can see it now ... A prime-time press conference with the TOTUS to announce his 'ground-breaking' $100 million in savings, while in the background the idiots in Congress pass some 'climate change' legislation that will cost us trillions of dollars and millions of jobs.

AN FAQ ON THE TEA PARTIES

Yep, gotta watch out for us right-wing extremists ... Haven't heard of any problems what-so-ever from the Tea Parties, but the left shows yet again their complete and utter intolerance, stupidity and proclivity for violence:

http://hotair.com/archives/2009/04/15/fiasco-amnesty-thugs-break-glass-shut-down-tancredo-at-unc/

And I would be willing to bet all the Tea Party peeps did a pretty good job of cleaning up after themselves as opposed to the mountains of trash left behind in Chicago and DC following the Election and Inauguration celebrations.

ENEMIES OF THE STATE

@ retire05

Hear, hear.

@ Chuck Tucson

Totally serious question ... please explain specifically how you have been 'marginalized and completely ignored'. Trying to understand your perspective.

Just some clarification ... Can't speak to the authenticity, but as presented, it IS a classified document. The category may only be 'UNCLASSIFIED' as opposed to SECRET or TOP SECRET, but the sub-category of 'FOR OFFICIAL USE ONLY' limits it's distribution to official channels only and forbids public dissemination. If it is real, it was leaked. If you can't find it on the DHS or some other Government website only proves their web admins are doing their jobs and preventing unauthorized access to classified documents.

LIBERAL AUTHORITARIANISM AND EARTH HOUR

Just a random thought, but how much energy do you suppose was wasted organizing this 'event'?
I would not be surprised at all if more energy was used emailing, phoning, posting, twittering and texting both before and after the great 'de-illumination' hour than was saved by the pointless show of stupidity in and of itself. I can only imagine the breathless anticipation of many of the participants sitting the dark, just waiting for the magical hour to come to an end so they could quickly jump back online and tell all their facebook friends the joyous rapture they felt doing their part to save the world. Get a life!

IT'S BECAUSE I LOVE YOU

Michael R. -

No problems mate. My biggest point is that I don't have a problem with 'spending' per se as long as it is done is a somewhat reasonable and responsible manner. What constitutes reasonable and responsible? We will all forever debate, discuss and argue for what we personally favor and believe and that again is a good thing. The spending currently in favor amongst the political and consumer classes goes so beyond what could be considered reasonable and responsible that I find it truly frightful. I hope this house of cards we've created doesn't come tumbling down, but it's going to take a very steady hand to deconstruct it back to the point of manageability and sustainability. Yes the past eight years have been terrible in many ways, but so far all I see from the current administration is a blind, mad dash to break every spending record possible in the shortest time possible.
