CONSERVATIVE STUDENT FAKES ASSAULT AT PRINCETON
Crackpots were faking assaults to get attention long before hate crimes legislation was even thought of.
This guy just saw a way of getting attention because of all the right wing blather about colleges and universities being "liberal bastions". He's just trying to please his brethren, show them they are right.
Brit Hume was "outraged" over this! Guess the student got what he wanted. ;)

Generally when someone gets charged with a hate crime, the person admits they did it because a victim was different,and/ or the crime is totally savage and disgusting as well as unprovoked.
People can think whatever they want. The hate crime comes when they terrorize, injure, or kill others as a way of sharing that thought.
I don't see what a lying, attention craving crackpot, that imagines he is politically persecuted, has to do with insuring longer sentences for the lowest of scum.
Here is a perfect example of a justified charge for hate crimes, helping to make darn sure the perp never sees the light of day....

My evangelical friend of 30 years told me several years ago that stuff about keeping your enemies closer was in the Bible! Having actually read the Bible, I knew better but chose to continue to let her think that.
Of course, she is a hard core Bushbot, and currently a Huckabee supporter. Oh, what the Reagan "Revolution" hath wrought on the GOP!
Criticize this guy all you want, conservatives, and watch the reaction of the Religious Right, also known in GOP circles as "the base".

I've read this guy's posts on an ex-Pentecostal forum, and from what I can tell, he suffered unspeakable abuse at the hands of his mother and some church leaders.

Being from Tennessee myself, I can't begin to tell you how comforting it is to hear folks aren't buying what Thompson is selling.
I can see why Republicans thought his campaign would be on fire. A hack actor and a faux redneck rolled into one? The best the Gipper and Dubya in one guy? Yeehaw!
I can tell you that Republicans here in my home state are quite stymied as to why that formula isn't working.
