HAGEL SAYS "NO DEFEAT" IN iRAQ: JIHADIS GIGGLE

I think, Kathy, if you read and take time to absorb what B.Poster is conveying in response to your well-expressed thoughts, that you'll eventually come to understand why we're good and they're bad; why war is not wanted but is often necessary; why no one wants war, but that war wants you.

You certainly have the basic underpinnings of understanding down pat already. Oh, and I think you thought I was he in an earlier post, but I am me not he :-)

"Sure, but it’s only “elected” in the sense that Iraqis voted for the candidates available to them on the ballot. They did not choose those candidates, or play any part, even indirectly, in choosing those candidates. So you can hardly say that Iraq’s “elected” government is a sign of democracy."

Who told you that Kathy? Sounds like a contrived viewpoint to me. It's been quite some time now, so urls would be difficult to unearth at this point, but I recall distinctly that the brothers that run Iraq the Model, ran/competed to be among the choices the Iraqis could vote on when the final elections were held and lost their bid to others -- fair and square.

So I remain mystified at your contention that the ultimate candidates were effectively shoved down the Iraqi's throats.

"For every generation of American schoolchildren in the future, Iraq will be taught as a defeat, a loss, a drubbing, a licking, a whipping, a nonsuccess."

And they'll be taught that by their Imam school teachers in every town across the defeated America. The students will kneel and pray instead of pledging allegiance to the flag and the ACLU will have won too -- not that they'll be around to celebrate.

THE TOP FIVE TV GAME SHOWS OF ALL TIME

Giacomo, Yes I remember Art Fleming well! What were the prize amounts back then, I seem to remember $25 as the lowest level, but maybe it was $10. One of my favorite things now, is "shhing" Trebek when he gets rambling with lots of clues still left, I'll be going shhh then shhh and finally yelling shut up!

Still, though I enjoy Jeopardy!, Bob Barker and the TPIR is my favorite.

INSULTING THE EXPLOITED

I happened to have Rush on the radio this week (I used to listen to him regularly back in the day, but not so much in the past few years), and frankly, Rick, this is one of the few times I disagree with your take on any given issue.

I think too, though, that you'll be modifying your position once you gather all the relevant information, as opposed to relying on what is said, 2nd-partially-hand, about what he said.

IRAQ: THE WITHDRAWAL CLOCK IS OFFICIALLY TICKING

You got that right Mark #1. Why in the world should we invest time in evaluating what is leaked out, when we know from past experience (every. single. time.) that it won't match the real story.

LOSING MOMENTUM IN IRAQ ISN'T THE PROBLEM

Ever since the 3rd day of the war when the troops ran into a sandstorm and sat around for a couple of days, the MSM has been continually calling the effort a quagmire. About every 13-14 months the conservatives and/or other supporters of the effort fall into despair against the relentless tide of negativism, then recover as they reengage their brains, though the lag time before that reengagement grows longer each time and I suppose one of these times they'll go over permanently (as has Greg D.) rather than slap themselves up side the head and recall it's the MSM that causing their skewed outlook.

This, however, doesn't mean we're losing, it doesn't mean that we'd be doing better if we started with 500,000 or 1,000,000 troops (as the potential unintended consequences of that tactic are never discussed to any degree) that is always trotted out confidently by the detractors. Let us remember that the "retired" generals either didn't speak up when it counted, or were overruled by other opinions, but now feel emboldened to criticize from the safety of their pension and talking head fee financed armchairs.

Were mistakes made? Are they still? Sure, this war should be different than any other in the history of mankind? Did we do the right thing, for the right reasons (plural)? Yes. That's all we need to know as far as that goes. So now, if all of the loudest critics would shut up in public and offer cogent ideas to the current leadership in private, perhaps a melding of ideas will create better and faster results.

But mouthing off in public to clueless TV anchors is counterproductive to our success -- no one of stature in the administration is going to tune in cable news and stroke their chin at the wisdom of shout matches between partisans refereed by clowns. The enemy sure eats that crap up though and the average Iraqi citizen is more than disconcerted by the "cut and run" tactic so often forwarded as the only way to "win."

So, gimmee a break, lets get this thing won and stop all the undermining.

W.A.R. IS COMING

Rick, I see that's a javascript to open the player, it's not RealPlayer waiting on the other side is it?

24 TILL "24"

Jack’s daughter will be kidnapped by Mr Big...

I hope not. Which harkens back to the first season when I hadn't looked into the premise beforehand, I tuned in a few times and kept saying to myself "what's up with this kidnap stuff every week, week in and week out?"

Of course, now that I "get it" I'd probably have watched all of season one, but it took me until last season to start watching again.

Oh, prediction: Audrey's very wet and bruised, but alive, Dad, plugs Logan in the forehead, or rather, fires the shot just at the end, and we find out if it found its target next year...

BUSH BASHING 101: WHEN IN DOUBT, RECYCLE

"...only proves that like Reagan, Bush will remain a focus of hate for the left long after he leaves the White House and goes into retirement."

And the left's petty carping about both Reagan and Bush will be inconsequential in history, while both Reagan and Bush's initiatives will endure for the decades and centuries to come.
