SINS OF THE FATHER

Something is just not right. We enter the show with Jack and his Dad going for a ride, presumably to be killed by the evil brother Graem's goons.

Problem #1: We learn that this was a ruse set up by the Dad and Graem to fool Jack. Um....were the guards in on the ruse too? They seemed pretty edgy. Did they know they were about to be killed as part of the ruse? Probably not. But then if they had been in on it, they would have known that was a likely scenario. If they weren't in on it, then it's quite likely Jack would be executed. Would the Dad have been OK with being executed too? Last I checked, Jack is just a man. Sure he's been known to resurrect from the dead, but a bullet to the head will still kill him. Doesn't compute!

Problem #2: Under torture, Graem gives it up that he was behind David Palmer's execution, Michelle and Tony, and the whole bio-threat ordeal last season. He later tells his father that he had to give Jack something, and that it's better to do that and live and just do some time, rather than let Jack kill him. EXCUSE ME! You've just confessed to murdering a President and being involved with the murder of many people and an attack on the country and you expect to get "some time?" Yeah, how about life without parole in the most maximum security prison, or the death penalty.

Problem #3: Apparently it's OK with Papa for Graem to have given up the info about the earlier plot, but it's worth killing his son to keep whatever the new plot is secret. What the hell can be worse than they've already done last season? They murdered a president, many federal agents, conspired with a president to attack our country, and gave bioweapons to terrorists. Isn't that about as bad as it gets?

The writers really bungled this one. The new secret plot better be so damn overwhelming to justify Papa offing his son. What is it, like Project Vulcan from Austin Powers. They're going to blow up the earth in the interest of saving our country?

One nice twist at the end was Morris being the new nuclear trigger guy after he leaves to check on his sick brother!

WHERE LATE THE SWEET BIRDS SANG

A great tribute to my beloved Packer, Brett Favre. My favorite story of Brett is one told by Doug Peterson, the always faithful back up for Favre for many years.

At a team meeting, after Favre had won a Super Bowl and at least 2 MVPs (I cannot remember if he won all three before or after), the coaches were talking about what to do when the opponent had a "nickel" defense in.

Favre leaned over to Peterson and asked, "What the hell is a nickel defense"?

The story pointed out what makes Favre so great. He plays the game because HE LOVES the game. He gets the spotlight because he plays great not because he does some silly stunt in the endzone knowing it will show up on ESPN Sportscenter.

Your tribute to Favre was great and it is even more meaningful because it was written by a bears fan.

Thank you from a Packer Stockholder and lifelong fan.

GO PACK!!

SURPRISING RESTRAINT FROM THE LEFT

Of course there are those on the "winning" side who gloat, and it's never pretty, smart, or even called for. It's just childish and counter-productive.

As one of Liberal bent, I wish I had a dime for every "Four More Years" I saw in big, bold caps all over the forums after the '04 elections. Now, that's some wealth I could really re-distribute!

SPINNING THE LIGHT FANTASTIC

It's all well and good to say that these alleged inaccuracies be removed, but you have to take a step back and remind yourselves who it is making these claims. Whose to say THEY aren't the one's spreading inaccuracies? Just something to keep in mind.

JASON LEOPOLD'S HEAD EXPLODES

Now I'm confused. Is johnson strummers a Jason Leopold sock puppet, or a Larry Johnson one?

UNITED 93: A REVIEW

I have to the film lived up to my expectations, which were very high. The director chooses to seat us alongside the passengers and everyong else involved to give a feeling of being "close in".

THE GANG THAT COULDN'T SHOOT STRAIGHT

I agree with the fact that keeping the incident secret was rediculous, but goodness, imagine how embarassed Cheney must be. however, i can also understand why they did it because reading about the incident last night and this morning in the Washington Post and NY Times, i could almost imagine that it was intentional and Cheney had "an agenda" to shoot the poor man and this and that. the coverage was what we can expect from a vile and hateful media towards the Bush administration. i think that is where the majority of the secrecy comes in because no matter what they do they are always portrayed as wrong and so they want to keep that at a minimum.

MERRY CHRISTMAS AL QAEDA

When did this become the Soviet Union of America? Where individual civil liberties are sacrificed on the alter of "state secrets"? Where duly (and constitutionally) passed laws from the legislature can be obeyed or disregarded at the whim of the executive branch?

If this is what passes for politically correct thinking in America then Osama bin Laden has already won.

COUNTDOWN TO "24"

"24" is the reason why John McCain is an idiot with his "no torture" ammendment. Jack gets results on TV! But seriously, i guarantee that torture gets results. although, "24" makes me hope that America does have someone out there like Jack, god bless whoever it is.

YOU'VE GOT MAIL!

Wow, it must be disappointing to be so certain and yet so wrong.

We'll skip the items marked #1 and #2 on your list as being silly and move right on to the end. By the way, you used one of the other favorite tactics of those unable or unwilling to argue properly, dropping all the points against that you didn't like only to focus on something trivial.

Let's assume that for some reason, having a phrase in a article or book title is the proper criteria to evaluate how widely it is used. Rather than just spouting off, I did a little research.

Amazon shows 20 titles with the phrase "grand experiment" and 18 with "noble experiment." The Library of Congress shows six with noble and five with grand, though two of the nobles are the same book in different formats, so I call that one a tie.

Admit you were wrong and move on, you'll be a better man for it.
