I like the fisking here but I think it is a mistake to tacitly agree to the term "swiftboating" to mean "making false accusations about a candidate." The Swift Boat Veterans, to my knowledge, have never actually been rebutted by Kerry. Kerry dismissed them and acted offended and shocked, whatever, but that doesn't mean the Veterans were making false accusations.
Perhaps what the Left means by "swiftboating" is "making TRUE accusations about a candidate" and how dare anyone do that to Obama. Then there is no contradiction in Hundt's column--just a bunch of truth he doesn't want to hear and doesn't want anyone else to hear either.

To your point that a single-sourced story of this nature should be taken with a grain of scepticism, you're absolutely right.
But to your point that "The Left" has hypocritically pounced on this story as The Truth . . . who are you talking about? You don't even say who it is you're quoting to represent the views of "The Left." How do we know you haven't taken a couple of comments from some response thread on some fringe blog?
You start out with a perfectly valid point and then twist it into a completely unsubstantiated attack on "Lefties"

Nice job, Rick. I thought you did extremely well up against a professional leftist/leftist apologist. The fact is that he didn't have a leg to stand on and it showed. You looked relaxed and composed and your arguments were spot on.

TORTURE ISSUE WILL NOT GO AWAY
I agree with Barry. Where is the proof other than the NY Times that this has actually happened? I don't think I would call the incidents at Abu Ghraib torture. Humiliation yea, but torture no. Let's ask John McCain and others of the Vietnam war what torture was. We haven't cut off anyone's head have we? That I believe is the ultimate torture. Why don't you use your energy to try and stop that type of torture.
