ATTACK OF THE ALIEN SMOG CANNIBALS

I assume you mean Space Aliens. And, of course they were. I saw it in the Weekly World News about a month after the attack.

WHY DIDN'T THE CIA THINK OF THIS FIRST?

Maj. Ed Dames, who claims to be one of the former Defense Department/CIA remote viewers, appeared on the old Art Bell radio program shortly after 9/11. He described Bin Laden as living in an elaborate underground fortress in Afghanistan complete with towers and minarets - that's right, underground. It was at about this time that he also revealed that he had remote viewed Satan.

I always enjoy it when Art had Ed on - you can count on whatever he predicts not happening, so I guess he is psychic in a backwards kind of way.

A ROCK, A HARD PLACE, AND THE DEEP BLUE SEA

It's always been interesting to me that so many people on both the left and right seem unable to view folks in other countries as people able to make decisions on their own. The actions of the Paks, Al Qaeda, the Taliban, etc. are not necessarily the fault of anyone in the US - Bush, Clinton or even Jimmy Carter.

THE COMING SCHISM

It was a combination of failure to do something about a never-ending war and fiscal irresponsibility of both parties that led to the creation of the Libertarian Party to begin with. Nixon's enactment of wage and price controls was the deciding factor for me and many others.

It will be interesting to see how this shakes out. I can't imagine myself going along with either major party as they are presently constituted, and I don't see the LP offering a real alternative. I tried that route for a couple of decades.

GUANTANAMO SUICIDES A STAIN ON AMERICAN JUSTICE

But what is the legal status of these people? If the terrorists come under the Geneva Conventions (the only possibly applicable International Law I'm aware of) they cannot be tried - no more than my father, a downed US airman could have been put on trial when captured by the Nazis. He was simply held prisoner until the end of the war in Europe.

I don't think the terrorists do come under the Geneva Conventions - they are not uniformed soldiers of a signatory nation state.

So, the question becomes, how does civilized society deal with enemies who don't play by the rules of civilized society? I don't have an answer.

24 TILL "24"

Aaron has to choose whether to allow Martha to shoot President Jellyfish.

Kim's boyfriend/psychologist makes contact with Henderson and our fears of their connivance are confirmed.

LOOKING FOR MIDDLE GROUND IN THE IMMIGRATION DEBATE

It's also necessary to consider what's going on in Mexico - a presidential election on July 2. The candidate from Fox's party is currently leading in the polls, but the second place candidate (who goes by the acronym AMLO) is a communist. His campaign is financed by Venezuela's Hugo Chavez.

If the US gets too tough before July 2, we might see a communist elected president - and then what problems would be have? Would we be able to turn back refugees fleeing a communist dictatorship?

RUMSFELD'S FOLLY

Unfortunately, it would appear the unwillingness to accept responsibility for one's actions has spread across society. I think it's part of feeling one did the right thing regardless of the real world results.

ARE YOU "OVER" 9/11 YET?

I spent 15-years as a television news producer. You are spot on when you say the media is dumb - there is no left-wing agenda, they don't have sense enough to have an agenda.

Degrees in broadcast journalism have minimal math and no science requirements. There are no requirements for any courses requiring critical thinking. Thus, reporters lack the skills to think through their stories. In fact, I doubt the need to do so even occurs to most reporters.

Throughout television stations, and I suspect newspapers, there is the attitude that viewers are idiots - that the television station employees have to spoon feed information in a simple manner so that the simple minds at home can understand.

Part of the difficulty media organizations are having today is that viewers and readers now have an effective way to respond. As Mark Steyn said on Hugh Hewitt's show last night, if a reporter writes something about Middle Eastern archetecture, within the hour he will have 50 emails telling him he obviously knows nothing about Middle Eastern archecture and correcting his mistake. Steyn says one cannot get away with being an ignorant generalist as so many reporters used to.

The whine being heard around newsrooms is "Why do the (the viewers) think we're so stupid?" The answer is because you are.

Sorry to go off on a rant - maybe I should copy this and make it a post to my own blog. Ha.
