There hasn't been a real solid conservative candidate for president in the Republican Party since Ronald Reagan! A Democrat Lite ticket will always lose, because most people will not get excited about a moderate candidate, which is what Mr. Moran seems to be making a plea for.
Another thing that must be considered is if non-Republicans can continue to nominate mamby pambys like John McCain for the Republican Party to run as their candidate for president, you can be assured that the base will not turn out, and that means a Democrat win. All this talk about moderation seems odd considering that the moderate and spineless "Republicans" in Washington seem to be more the problem than the solution. Ronald Reagan didn't set forth moderate ideas or confusing double-speak, on the contrary he was very bold, forward and steadfast in his convictions, and this is what attracted people to him and the Republican Party of his day! Today's Republican leaders for the most part are hesitant, weak and unsure at best, in what they believe or if they believe anything, and have very little propensity to stand on solid principles that at one time sustained the party and still would if our leadership and party members are convinced enough to once again stand on timeless moral principles.
May God once again grant us the fortitude to stand on the solid conservative principals that we once stood for!

Read the Bible....... There WILL be a war (a rather big one(Armageddon)) and oh Boy! are there going to be some really dead people around Israel, but Israel will NEVER..be defeated. Hahahahahaha! Fools will try, but darkness awaits them..not virgins. Oh yeah, if virgins await the dead guys, then what awaits the dead chicks? Many loads of laundry?

Your timeline is one of the most useful tools on this story in the blogosphere, but I don't get how after pulling all those facts together you've gone back to picking a nit with this 'paper shuffler' stuff. You're right that the MSM seem hyper-focused on the Feds and saying precious little about local and state responsibility...
But, aren't these the FEMA administrative people on the ground that should help coordinate all that other stuff that 'didn't get to the people?' Aren't they the ones who would have appeared at the major assembly and evac. points and provided basic info., started name lists, etc. so that those first few days after the storm wouldn't have been so chaotic and traumatic for survivors who couldn't (or wouldn't) get out?
It's exactly that kind of simple on-the-ground info. and coordination that gets harried masses to relax, and makes them feel like someone gives a damn. I think depicting them as some kind of useless bureaucrats who would have just gotten in the way, and didn't need to be there moments after the storm is off the mark.

Wow! It's amazing to me that you can deny ALL the facts. I am impressed by your plea for us to all get along, but, if someone lets my family perish while on vacation, I'm gonna be real pissed off! Not at Mother Nature mind you, but at the morons who let it happen.
