UNITED STATES OUT OF THE UN -- NOW

I too would close down the inept United Nations. But on a list of priorities for this country I don't think it would rate the top ten.I've stopped believing in global warming, but, would do everything in our power to get off foreign oil, including drilling in Anwar, fast track nuclear, wind, solar, and most importantly weatherizing our homes...duh

OUR FRIENDS, THE PAKISTANIS

We can't even solve our own problems at home, but somehow think we can solve the Pakistan,India,Afghganistan puzzle?Karzai has no power beyond the gates of his own palace and he's our main man. Afghganistan....the graveyard of Empires.

IS OBAMA GROWING INTO THE JOB OF COMMANDER IN CHIEF?

Wow, even the hardcore righties are giving Obama praise. I guess that means he's not a commie, a marxist, or a man trying to destroy America. Thanks Rick for a non-partisan evaluation of Obama's speech.Obama is more a centrist than anything. No matter what Glen Beck says universal health care does not make one a marxist. I doubt that the tribal hodgepod of Afhganistan will ever be peaceful or ruled by a sound central government based in Kabul. That said Al Queda operatives need to be destroyed in the region.I'm just happy today that the right is waking up to the trickery that Limbaugh and company pulled of Obama being the anti-Christ. You folks got pawned, plain and simple.

OBAMA AND EXCEPTIONALISM

Dick Cheney lied us into a war with Iraq, that cost American lives and wasted a trillion dollars. Sorry Rick, but anything that comes out of that war criminal's mouth is bunk.Obama wouldn't hesitate too use the full force of our military to defend our interests.Want to know whats exceptional about America? that a mixed race skinny kid, with a mother that was on food stamps, and a father that had abandoned them, would go to Harvard Law and be elected president. You don't think Obama realizes every day where he came from? So he bowed to the emperor of Japan, so did Bush senior, big deal. It must be hard work to come up with new material to bash Obama all the time. Its like someone crying wolf every day, after a while you just ignore it.

PALIN MAINSTREAMS THE BIRTHERS

I hope Palin wins the gop nomination in 2012.Nothing could be more entertaining than a Obama versus Palin showdown. The second most entertaining thing in 2012 will be the Palin versus Mittens bloodbath for the gop nomination.Mitt can articulate economics like a professor, Palin speaks in platitudes. We'll find out where the soul of the gop lies, my guess, Caribou Barbie wins with a wink and a nod.

MY CONSERVATIVE APOSTASY AND WHY I DON'T GIVE A F**K WHAT YOU THINK

Nice reply Michael, we don't exclude, we include. And by the way I'm pro-life and pro gay marriage, and my basement wall is adorned with the racks of whitetails I've bagged over the years. Venison is better tasting than any other meat.I'm not against all wars but I was against the Iraq War. I was raised hardcore Catholic and even though I quit attending mass I still have a strong faith in God.I'm 54 and consider myself a old JFK Democrat, fiscally conservative, strong national defense, but tolerant of all lifestyles. My wife and kids mean everything to me and Limbaugh types sicken me. Yes we are big tent.

I have to agree with Rick on his idea of conservatism versus what Limbaugh and Beck have unleashed. I vote Democrat but would venture the country is center-right. The conservatives in my neck of the woods think that Sarah Palin is a serious candidate in 2012,that Obama has a secret plot to destroy the country, and that Saul Alinsky was his mentor. They seem antiscience and anti-intellectual.Most people are somewhat close to moderate and I don't see a winning coalition for the Palin wing of the gop.I wish Obama was more of a fiscal conservative and would realize what a folly it is propping up the Karzai government and trying to destroy what has turned into a Pashtun Nationalist movement.Rick tells it like it is and the Palinistas despise him for it. This site is interesting as hell, and even though Rick has called me a moron, and that I didn't know nothing about politics (in my defense I've been a political junkie my whole life)I still stop in every day to read a smart, sane conservative. Obama can be beaten in 2012 but by who? Palin won't, Mittens is a flip flopper who isn't trusted by his own base. Obama may win by default.

WALKBACK COMPLETE: US RECOGNIZES WINNER IN HONDURAN ELECTION

Wow, unemployment at 10%, going to be 100,000 troops in EACH of Afhganistan and Iraq, but Honduras is on your mind? What? You felt the need to attack Obama? Does this make up for your attack on Jim DeMint? Guess what Rick? America doesn't care what is happening in Honduras. Its still a pathetic banana republic.

IT'S STILL A GOOD IDEA TO REDUCE CO2 EMISSIONS

I used to believe in global warming until the last two winters here in Wisconsin, plus, one of the coolest spring and summer I can remember in a long time. I do wish we'd get off foreign oil. From what I've read China and Europe are lapping us on solar, wind and battery technology.Wisconsin is full of renewable energy, forests everywhere. Wood stoves are now 95% efficient, houses could be winterized to the max and a company in Michigan is making a wind generator for home usage that could supply all our electricity on windy days(about 75% of the time in northcentral Wisconsin) When cars go electric people could plug them into these wind generators. The home generators cost $6000, but I spend about $3000 a year on gasoline.Theoretically the home wind generators could pay for themselves in 2 years.Companies are currently developing batteries to store wind energy for non-windy days. Add some solar panels for the house when they come down in price, and there you be. Not rocket science and we could tell big oil, and Arab oil to kiss our ass.
