CAMPAIGN 2008: HILLARY WALKS THE PLANK

It is also important to note that since '72; Carter was able to get into office due primarily to the scandal of Watergate and that Bill's success may owe more to Ross Perot's ability to peel off votes.

I KNOW WHAT WENT WRONG

Here Here ! As you say no one caused Katrina. It was a “natural disaster” with only God to blame if anyone. I have my doubts though that an all merciful God would inflict this on any of his creations.

All governments, businesses, humans in general will make mistakes. Every time a mistake is made, the real metal of any organization or individual is how they respond and make things right. The restoration of the current disaster by all accounts is going well. The days to come will decide what America is made of. I for one think in the coming months, America will again show the rest of the world why we are the leaders of the free world and why we should continue to be the leaders of the free world.

KATRINA: RESPONSE TIMELINE

Sorry I'm not very good at this, but see windsofchange.net for a good report of the Navy efforts in the Gulf. Example: the Bataan was already in the Gulf, waiting for the storm to go in.

SHEEHAN: I AM THE WALRUS

Have you heard Eisenhower's farewell speech? He was a Republican- so you can't bash him can you?

He warned America that the 'military-industrial complex' could become too powerful, and that if left unchecked we could lose our freedoms.

Do you care about preserving freedom in America? If so, then you should be opposed to the current gov't- not just Bush, the entire Congress as well.

They passed national ID cards, unconstitutional random searches are now commonplace, the government can spy on anyone anytime without a warrant. Is that freedom? Sure- we gotta protect us from the 'terrorists'. Read Orwell's 1984- it's so friggin obvious- the gov't is trying to scare it's citizens into accepting the loss of freedom- "trust us, it's all to protect you."

What if you've been fooled by liars and rather than admit it, you'd rather continue following the crooks as they destroy America. Is that patriotic?

Will you be proud to tell your grandchildren that you blindly followed the President, that you believed all of the absurd propaganda spewing from his mouth because it was easier to continue the lie than admit you were wrong- very, very wrong.

Don't believe me. Google Depleted Uranium- 11,000 Gulf War I Vets are DEAD! They were not injured in the first war, but they returned with health problems caused by this radioactive waste- the pentagon knew about this and they're still using DU- in 15 years there could be 2-3 times that number of DEAD Gulf War II vets....

of course via google you can find some right wing links that try to claim DU is not a problem... and you can go to sleep still believing the US gov't would never do anything that would harm our own soldiers...

Which takes more courage? to blindly follow the Bushit, or to investigate and find out if indeed you've been lied to.

ONE SPEECH DOWN, ONE TO GO

I am with Merry Mad Monk. I would go so far as to say that torture is a necessary ingredient in our military arsenal if we are to win on the level of the enemy. I'm not saying that torture is traditionally American or part of our heritage per se, but that it is a tool we have come to rely on under certain circumstances. I don't think Bush should give any speeches on it because (1) he would have to admit that we practice it (2) it might not go over well with some voters.
