Regarding Delay, the article was not being snide about religion but about Delay evoking God as his reason for pulling out of the race. His sarcasm is not religion per se but what he feels is an apparent act of hypocracy. Leaving the race for clearly political reasons (whether you argee with them or not) and saying it God who told him to. Delay is a product of the people who voted for him and speaks their language I don't doubt. However, after all this time his actions are louder than his words. And, in the end, he made enemies (unnecessarily in my opinion) that are not going to let him go quietly.

I saw the trailer and it was frightening not because it looked gratuitous but because it was NOT gratuitous. The cuts they showed did not look "dramatized" and that is what affected me the most. It seemed realistic and so perhaps the movie might prove to be too well done.
Very risky for Hollywood. I hope it works out for the best but I think it could blow up in their face. (no pun intended here either)
As for Stone, I like his work but he is too much into conspiracy (which may or may not exist) and so distracts too much from his subject. I confess though I liked JFK not for its accuracy but for the technique.

Rick, I have read a number of your posts in comments on another blog and while I didn't always agree with them, they were still well written and articulate. I can't agree with you more on this subject. The shoot-first-ask-questions-later attitude in blogs is starting to sicken me. The issue of Jill Carroll is just one of many where war was declared simply because somebody thought they saw someone blink. I don't post hastily on blogs anymore mostly because I have eaten my words after learning more of the truth behind a subject and not questioning what I was reading. Which is my own fault of course.
The tragedy is that even after a blog has made a stand or leveled an accusation that ends up wrong or badly distorted, the resulting admission never comes afterwards or certainly not made with the same clarity with which it was initially reported. "Mistakes were made" is usually what is heard without any outright
Anyway, thanks for letting me post. I am at work and don't have time draft anything more astute.
