A SMALL DETOUR ON OUR ROAD TO DICTATORSHIP

Rick,
Just like Lil Kim, moonbats are so ronery. From Seabrook's book Among Strangers, He was asked by a Russian official about bread production for St. Petersburg. He said, "We understand the importance of the free market, but could you tell me who is in charge of bread production for London?" Seabrook considers it an innocent question, but remarks the answer is absolutely devastating. "no one" Liberals hate the fact that in a democracy, no one is in charge. Their ultimate form of government is an activist Supreme Court, in charge. They used to have total media control, but have lost that as well. Reporters just can't comprehend that they are ignored too. Democracy is a liberals dictatorship, because the dynamics of human interaction in a free and open market of ideas is something they can not control.

HAMDAN COULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED

From the Majority Opinion
Although the official commentaries accompanying Common Article 3 indicate that an important purpose of the provision was to furnish minimal protection to rebels involved in one kind of “conflict not of an international character,”

Common Article 3, then, is applicable here and, as indicated above, requires that Hamdan be tried by a “regularly constituted court affording all the judicial guarantees which are recognized as indispensable by civilized peoples.”

It is not giving blanket Geneva Convention protections, just the Article 3 adjudication.

Rick,
I don't see where it gave Geneva Conventions coverage to members of Club GITMO, only that Article 3's "laws of war" incorporation with military justice conforms to that language.

Rick,
How many American's died to capture these people to garner actionable intelligence? We could have killed these people on the battlefield and now the Supreme Court has usurped the powers of the Commander in Chief. I'm sure they will have a wonderful summer vacation in Europe, awash in praise for their somber guidance.

AMNESTY FOR SOME INSURGENTS MAY BE THE PRICE OF VICTORY

This is insurgency surrender, while conditional, surrender. To call for a continuation of hostilities when a political option is available is outrageous. How many of those that have died, would want their buddy to die for a bogus proposition their death was in vain for fighting to bring about a functioning democracy in Iraq, when the functioning democracy they died for has a path for success of that end? The cut and run crowd that are willing to let these lives in fact be in vain, now have raised this new threshold as a domestic political effort to harrass the Bush Administration. This is equivalent of claiming Truman let the Emperor of Japan off after killing 300,000 Americans. We have to ask these Democrat insurgents, How many more Americans and Iraqis have to die to meet their new unconditional surrender goal post?

GUANTANAMO SUICIDES A STAIN ON AMERICAN JUSTICE

Rick,
You read advocacy from liberal defense lawyers, three detainees score a coordinated suicide and it is our fault, a stain on us? 600 people out of a country of more than 20 million. These people are living comfortably, if they were all sent home, the goal posts would move and the US would be accused of sending them to countries that will torture them. Hostilities haven't ended, their status remains in captivity until the conditions are safe to let them go. They needed death of detainees at GITMO to write high minded anti-US articles, you fell for it.

Andy,
You make the Katrina argument, a Six Sigma mentality. It becomes our fault they killed themselves, like they stayed during a hurricane becomes our fault. How do you know that these were trouble makers requiring greater surveillance? Perhaps these had been cooperative detainees, but were influenced to do this? That is the rub on all these characters down there, we just don't know.

Rick,
This commentary should have been, Rick Moran takes the bait. You are getting soft, just like they want, democracy as Hitler said, is weak. This is why I like Ann Coulter, she says the obvious. We are a civil society, but being civil will not protect us. They should fear us, we can be just as brutal as they are when provoked. How many years did John McCain sit in desperate conditions? Club GITMO is a retention facility. There may be many detainees that were simply in the wrong place at the wrong time, if they are cooperative, they are given many privileges. These guys killed themselves to bring attention to GITMO. Don't fall for it. Next you are going to tell us that incarceration is cruel and unusual punishment! We did release some and they were captured or killed by US forces. The GWOT will not be settled by Courts, but with resolve. Remember, Brownie was doing a heck of a job.

ANN COULTER: CONSERVATIVE LOUT

Rick,
Coulter's black humor may be shrill and open to ridicule, that is how she got Matt to ask her questions about it. Just like she got them from Katie, the Eva Braun of morning TV. Ann isn't the problem, the Matt Laures' that are shocked that the motives of these widows could be challenged is. Don't be naive, Haditha coverage, like the 9/11 widows, is to deflect attention from the real perpetrators of Haditha & 9/11, to attack the Bush Administration.

HOLIDAY BLOGGING

Daou: Bush's tough talk was wrongheaded and cost lives.

In response to attacks, this quote caused additional attacks? The Iraqi resistance didn't gain any additional incentive from his remark. What Bush meant by mistake, was that to his distractors that believe in this nonsense, he gave them ammunition to deem him as being a caviler cowboy rather than a sophisticated President serious about the mission. I don't think it really ever mattered, the BDS Left has never supported the extension of US power for any reason.

Full Quote: "Anybody who wants to harm American troops will be found and brought to justice," Bush said. "There are some that feel like if they attack us that we may decide to leave prematurely. They don't understand what they are talking about if that is the case. Let me finish. There are some who feel like the conditions are such that they can attack us there. My answer is, bring 'em on."
