MY TEN FAVORITE MYTHIC HEROES OF ALL TIME

Excellent post! Loved all of your choices. But Gary, Robin Hood only stole from one rich guy - the Sherriff of Nottingham (or Prince John, depending on the story version) - who is a lot like Bill Clinton if you think about it! ;)

So, he's not really a Dhimmicrat, he's a Demopublican!

THE "CIVIL WAR" DEBATE

Rick,
You are So right about wasting time and lives with the semantics game - man I HATE that! Why do our politicians waste so much time doing such things? It really makes them seem terribly stupid. Surely they can't be that dumb?!
Keep up the good work - I really enjoy reading your blog.

HUGH HEWITT: KOOL AID DRINKER OR SAGE OF SAGES?

Nervous Nellies, the lot o'ya. Democrats will not take over either house, if you want confirmation of that, replay Pelosi's interview on MTP on your Tivo. Futhermore, we have a great economy, roaring along, low base inflations, home sales, consumer confidence, jobs. The BEST strategy for the GOP is to NATONALIZE the election. Here's the pitch, "So You Want to Hand Over this Economy to THEM??"

VENGENCE IS THE LORDS: JUSTICE IS OURS IN MOUSSAOUI CASE

Mass murder. He was in on the planning, he allowed it to happen and to this day glories in its results. Rick, save your mercy for the redeemable.

OF TURF BUILDING AND CARVING OUT KINGDOMS

That's ok Jeff, I didn't remember his name was 'Leland' - I'll give ya that one. I can't think of anything else he's been in though.

The Vice President is the same man who murdered his daughter, Laura Palmer in Twin Peaks. What else do we need to know?

IRAQIS PREPARING TO GIVE THE FINGER TO DEAN AND THE DEMS

Dave, I did not avoid the draft being too young at the time, and we are talking about the draft not service, but those who did include: Cheney - several deferments, Karl Rove, Newt Gingrich, Dennis Hastert, Tom Delay, Paul Wolfowitz, Richard Perle, Douglas Feith, and Rush Limbaugh.

And what a bargain it is. 300 Billion dollars, 50,000 dead and counting and they get to vote. Bush does prove one thing- war is obsolete. So forget Operation North Korea Kaput, Syria Snuffout, and Iran Awreak, we're broke and short on willing participants since Republicans won't initiate a draft to fight these increasingly expensive endeavors as they know most of their kind will avoid serving. Yes, we as a common people of Earth face monumental problems that will only be solved by cooperation. Globalization has defeated isolationism dissolving borders and touching everyone with the invisible hand of greed. Can we talk?

RUNNING FROM HISTORY

Ed, Mr. Moran is not a lead to follow. Spewing anti-democratic rhetoric while ignoring the blatant failings of the republican stewardship is tired propaganda. I hear as many republicans against the Iraq nightmare and an equal number on both sides for the mistake. The continued attack on any opposition is a sign of weakness from the apologists needing to prop up their failing ideology.

THE FULMINATER

Tom G.

If the copter's came from Bataan I was unaware of that. I also disagree that the copters were it's most valuable resource when it can churn out fresh water and people needed, and didn't recieve, fresh water, but that's not the point. The point is: whatever action was taken, it wasn't enough. It was obviously not enough on tuesday morning. That's the point. No matter what the goverment claims to have done, no matter how many of their talking points you swallow, it was not enough. They had the ability to do more and yet they didn't for no other reason than lack of leadership.

"Given the fact that law and order had completely broken down in New Orleans, it’s ridiculous to blame FEMA for not getting help to the city sooner"
That's completely untrue. There was some looting and such but to say law and order "completely broke down" is absurd. The news crews where at the superdome and convention center for days. We have film footage for days. The people weren't rioting, they weren't setting buildings on fire, they weren't tipping over police cars. There was a very typical amount of looting and not much more.

Aside from that, Tom, it's the goverment's responsibility to maintain order. Even if your point were true, that order completely broke down, it's the government's job to maintain order. The local resources were obviously and immediately overwhelmed by the size of the disaster so it was the Federal goverment's responsibility to restore order.

That's what government's are supposed to do first and formost. Everybody knows that. It's absurd for the people tasked with maintaining order to complain that there wasn't any order.

It’s interesting to note how logic-proof the Bush fellators are.
