ADDICTED TO BUSH

Say waa? You don't care if Jeb is any good, you hate his name/legacy/anything Bush enough to say never-ever-ever? And Diana never did anything worthwhile? Whatever her motives may have been, she did a lot of charity work. I'm not gonna look it up but I bet her charity work lives on. What have YOU done lately?

Not that either needs defending, but you're WAY out of line.

WHO'S TO BLAME FOR HIGH GAS PRICES? LOOK IN THE MIRROR, AMERICA

Have to agree that drilling, now, is part of the answer. All the set-asides were done for good (enough) reasons at the time. This is not THAT time. Allowing refining capacity to fall, largely as a result of the NIMBY syndrome*, is also something we can no longer afford (literally and figuratively). More domestic drilling and building up refinery capacity isn't going to help short-term however.

-----
* On the other hand, I have a friend who lives by a refinery and, in addition to the weather-warning sirens that many of us are familiar with, she has to listen for the refinery fire/explosion sirens (and deal with the light pollution, noise and noxious fumes that permeate the area 24/7). I wouldn't want one nearby.

SAY IT AIN'T SO, DAVID STERN

You can always watch "professional" wrestling. At least they give you a wink-and-a-nod while they pretend to be a real sport.

ENEMIES OF AMERICA! BE OF GOOD CHEER - HOPE IS ON THE WAY!

I "get" the tone of the piece and enjoyed it. However, one thing in particular popped: "... if [terrorists] happen to succeed in killing a few hundred…thousand…or hundreds of thousands of us, oh well. We’ll just blame it on Bush ..."

Oh crap. If the Obamamessiah gets elected how many years are we going to be bludgeoned with, "It's not Obama's fault! It's a legacy of Bush's policies!"? He's campaigning against Bush now, blames Bush for everything bad that's ever happened (that isn't his father's or Reagan's fault), and for years after Bhus is gone we'll STILL have to listen to whining about Bush because, as everyone knows, Bush is The Evil One and Obama is The Messiah (and can't be faulted lest ye bear the wrath of his subjects).

BTW, it cracks me up to see Obama apologists claim anyone speaking out against him is irrational. I wonder how that feels ...

HILLARY STAYS ALIVE

"... all we will see of [Obama] and read about are the issues he and his supporters wish to highlight.

Which “issues” are those? The adoring crowds. The spine tingling rhetoric. The fainting women. How charismatic he is. ..."

Don't knock it, it worked well for Bill Clinton. Twice.

ONLY A REPUBLICAN COULD BE SO STUPID...

"... One of those words that cannot be used without offending someone is “boy.” The Congressman recognized it. Most real conservatives recognize it. Why many of you in the comments cannot is simply beyond my comprehension and experience."

Count me among the (according to your definition) "few real conservatives" who do not accept that the word "boy" cannot EVER be used when referring to someone whose skin color happens to be brown. I can *almost* comprehend that you cannot, ever, accept the use of the word, that is, after all, YOUR experience, but that is not MY experience -- so please don't speak for me. Nor should you categorize me as a stupid racist for not sharing your view.

ANOTHER ANTI-WAR FILM TANKS AT THE BOX OFFICE

The box office has spoken: Don't make virulently anti-American, anti-military, anti-soldier or anti-war movies while our soldiers are still fighting for their lives. I would think that would be a no-brainer but that list of box office duds proves otherwise.

I did see The Kingdom since it seemed to be the least venom-filled of the lot. I thought it was excellent; action-packed, thrilling, scary and realistic, with great performances and cinematograpy throughout. The melodramatic scene at the end left me a bit cold though.

Someone, please, give Mel Gibson a ton of money to make a movie about the war.

COMMENTS REOPENED - CONDITIONALLY

"... I will not abide personal insults ..."

"... life is too short to have to endure the aggravations caused by half wits, nitwits, and peawits."

Lead by example, maybe? ;)

Keep bloggin'. BTW, I have no problem with complete control over comments (especially when the alternative is turning them off). You don't like a comment? Delete it. You don't "owe" anyone else a voice. McDonald's doesn't "owe" Burger King space for a rebuttal, do they?

A "HELL" OF A HOTEL

Horrific story, until the end where you mentioned the place is getting torn down soon. That's when I understood the staff's lack of attention. They'll be out of work soon, so, screw it. Not exactly professional behavior, but certainly human. -- Also, in my experience, LV management treat their employees like crap.
