I think Rick is right. The key is continuing to wage the war of ideas. If McCain loses it won't be because Obama cheated...even if Obama does cheat and win. It will be because conservatives have stopped fighting the war of ideas. Election time is not the time to convince people of the value of your ideas. That case needs to be made throughout the off season. One of the things that made Reagan great was that he educated people on the truth of conservatism throughout his entire presidency. Winning an election isn't what counts, changing peoples minds is. That is why the GOP has stunk it up the last few years. It has been focused on winning elections during election time. Sort of like the "perennial campaign" of Clinton. Given the clear choice, people are basically conservative. The challenge we have through the next 4 years is to clearly, boldly, and unashamedly present the ideas behind conservatism regardless of who wins this election.
I hear all the time that average Americans are too stupid or that they've been poisoned by the media so all is lost for our candidate. Well, I would say that the truth has power. I believe that the conservative movement has a bigger claim to the truth than the liberals do. We (and also please God our elected leaders) need to cheerfully speak the truth and let it do it's work.
Sure, the public school system is indoctrinating our kids every day. So what do we do? Get involved and make sure they are teaching the truth about our constitution. Truth will ultimately overcome indoctrination.
We need to smile as we discuss politics, knowing we are armed with a super weapon called the truth. If we'll use it, we can take back this country from the leftest agenda.
