DEALERGATE: STATISTICAL COINCIDENCE OR POLITICAL BIAS? (IMPORTANT UPDATE BELOW)

Surabaya Stew Said:
"While I have little sympathy for the dealers predicament,"

Nice to hear those moderate creds, Stew. My question is, "Why no sympathy? You got a problem with compassion?" What evil did they do?

So why is it that profitable businesses which neither cost Chrysler nor Government anything were disinfranchised (closed down)?

I get it now.

TO STIMULATE OUR ECONOMY!!

Hell, this had nothing to do with Obama. It was Chrysler's decision. First secured bondholders are forced to take second seat status in the bankruptsy...must have been da Judge, Obama didn't do it.

I believe ya.

In the meantime we are spending trillions of dollars we don't have. On what? And where did those 40000 closed dealership jobs go, the ones that weren't costing the government anything?

Well enough of my picayune piffle, I think I'll go fire up my crack pipe now.

Elizdaho..."picayune piffle", jstrummingharp..."crack pipe"

Golly gee, I am so totally wounded by the depth of your analysis. I am overwhelmed by the compassion of your hearts, the purity of your souls.

I am so wrong. I bow before you.

My wife called me to dinner so I couldn't quite finish...

Obama rushed through an $800 Billion dollar stimulus package speaking of such a dire emergency that none of our elected representatives had time to read, even though after the bill was passed the POTUS stuck it in his pocket, went to Chicago to party for the weekend, then traveled to Colorado to hold a big media signing party on Tuesday. That made four days after passage, time that could have been spent examining and actually reading the Bill before they passed it.We were supposed to be getting a lot of shovel ready jobs. Instead we got political payoff, pork.

Moving forward a few months, where are the jobs? Well here are a whole lot of jobs. Self producing ones that were not costing the government or Chrysler one red cent. These people were taxpayers. Now they will soon be unemployed. And not justtem either, for every dealership bought supplies from other companies. Many were located in smaller, less populated areas whose surrounding economies needed their valuable presence.

From whence did this dictate come to close these American resources? Not the judge and apparently not Chrysler. So who is left? Fiat or the government (Obama). Some of you people don't think this is a story. Move on folks, nothing here. Well screw you and your horse. This is a story, it's a big story and I want to know who is responsible.

Such heartfelt agony from all of the righteous humanist commenters involved with your website, Rick. How do you draw them out from under their rocks? These dealerships, I might remind you all, are men and women who have worked their entire lives to build something for themselves and their families. They are not evil. They have done no harm. They employ in aggragate some 40000 people making a decent living and supporting families of their own. They were profitable, producing companies. What was the necessity of this action? What good has it done?

IF REAGAN TOLERATED MODERATES, WHY CAN'T TODAY'S CONSERVATIVES?

It seems that too many times when I hop over here, all that I find is Mr. Moran bashing conservatives. Ok Rick, I get it, you are not a conservative. That is fine with me. Maybe you might be the close-minded one. This is America still. Go vote for Arlen Specter. That is your choice. After all he is a Democrat now. Hey, guess what? Maybe he was a Democrat all along. Maybe that is why conservatives never liked him. Let's see, 45% is less than half in my book. Doesn't that make him a conservative Democrat? How about we say that 55% is as far as we are willing to go? Would that make us a milquetoast enough big tent?

Myself, I say 70%.

McCain's a Republican. I have no problem there. He was simply a terrible candidate. The wrong guy at the wrong time during the entire campaign. Immigration, energy, financials were all areas where he departed from conservatism or accumen and always at exactly the wrong time.

As far as our congresscritters, we've got some good ones and some bad ones. I don't have any problem with strengthening our base before we go after the Dems in their homes, which is the urban core. The bigger the tent, the stronger the support pillars are needed.

Moran is always looking for a fight. Doesn't matter who with.

THE MORAL PARAMETERS OF TORTURE

I first posted comment #34 at Wolf Howling. He has excellent and, perhaps, less emotional expositions on this subject. I suggest a click on his above links.

I have a child and I would rather see my child burned to death in excruciating pain rather than see a murdering puke slammed against a wall that was designed to give under pressure. Because of my high moral values, I would be comfortable with my wife having to jump from an 80 story high window to escape the afformentioned excruciating death rather than have the perpetrator of the next mass murder causing these horrendous and unnecessary deaths swallow water until he cannot breath...than, of course allowed to breath again.

This is the position of moral superiority of John Liebowitz in his discussion with Cliff May (http://tinyurl.com/cx8vum)
and also Mr. Moran and those of you who agree with them. And really that is just fine with me, as long as it is your child and your wife and you. When it comes to my family, up yours (if you know what I mean). Is there a bridge too far, a method too morbid? Absolutely, but only because those methods are not necessary.

Mr. Obama could very easily have taken your same high moral position and given orders, which would have to have been obeyed, stopping any coersive interrogations without releasing the details of our 'previously used' techniques to our enemies. He chose instead to give our enemies a huge advantage without allowing the American people the ability to make an informed decision based on all of the facts. He only released half of the "memos". What is in the other half? Five or six intimately involved high ranking and publicly known officials of Clinton, Bush, and Obama's administration have stated that only after we coersed these psychopaths were we able to glean information that saved future horrendous deaths of innocents. Those innocents could be your or my child or wife.

The POTUS swears to protect all Americans. That is what Bush did. I only pray that Obama has a card or two left in his pocket, because it looks to me like he laid our entire hand on the table. If he expects to play poker successfully with the Islamofascists who are fervently looking to cause us as much misery as Allah empowers them to achieve with a poker hand on the table while theirs is close to their vest, we could all be in very serious trouble indeed. Furthermore, by exposing these mild, but apparently effective techniques, Obama may very well have forced his successor to go much further with much more cruelty in the future.

WATERBOARDING: THE S.E.R.E. STRAWMAN

We don't want prosecution and punishment, we just want 100% of the facts to come out. We blow away "strawmen" with feather dusters. That is why we release specific "court ordered?" documents neutering any future interrogations by laying our entire game book out for the enemy to study and prepare, yet conveniently redact the portions of those same exact documents that perhaps tell of the effectiveness of those interrogations. We do this because we want 100% of the information to come out into the open. That is our idea of transparency.

And we want another 9/11 commission to investigate so that the perps can ask the questions ala Jamie Gorelick without the inconvience of deposition and cross examination under oath.

I don't know what you think a strawman is, Mr Stuck, but if I were a horse, my belly would be full right now.

still liberal, indeed I did misspell "gnash". I am very sorry and would greatly appreciate your continued in depth contribution to this discussion by correcting any further spelling errors I might make.
