A FEW RAMBLING THOUGHTS ON THE GATES AFFAIR

Interesting stats pulled from an article at Rick's own American Thinker compiled by the Dept of Justice and the FBI in 2007:
57 Law Enforcement Officers (LEO) were killed, 82% of those were caucasian
Of the 62 known perpetrators 29% were Negro males
Negro males equal 6& of the population but kill LEO's at a rate 61/2 times their percentage of population.
A LEO's first job when on duty is to make sure he/she doesn't get killed (one does lose one's effectiveness when dead). Although a cool, calm, and collected perp can be most dangerous, a highly agitated citizen is very likely to be dangerous. Also in responding to B&E or domestic violence, protocol is to always get the resident out of the house. This eliminates the possibility of a perp hiding or coersing and forcing the resident to state all is fine, when it isn't. It also is safer for the officer. Although the absolutely rude and insulting behavior that Gates exhibited began inside his house, it continued outside, according to multiple witnesses. The tapes need to be released. My suspician is that they could prove very embarrassing for the good professor.

So now I will state my prejudiced opinion. The only mistake the cop made was taking the idiot professor to the jailhouse when he should have gone to the nuthouse.

Without adding my own prejudiced perception here, since every possible avenue has already been covered 1,199,959 times by my latest count, I can only compliment you for a nice unbiased synopsis, Mr Rick.

The next shoe to drop is still hanging large like a rain cloud, however. That is, of course, the audio tapes of the entire incident.

So until then.....

CONSERVATIVES KEEP LEARNING THE WRONG LESSONS FROM REAGAN

Gotta hand it to you Rick, you got it from both sides this time. What does that say? Um.

I should probably mention that I think ObieOne is cooler than M&M's (is it a singer or a candy treat?). He won by a landslide against the absolute best ever candidate a conservative tapioca slurper could ever dream of. Now look at all the really out there stuff he's done while majestically doing daily battle with a hardened and steadfast Democratic congress and meanspirited media. Wowee!!

Peace will come to our planet, our economy will roar, every citizen will have warm homes in the winter and cool breezes wafting in the summer, food will be plentiful, our sexual appetites satisfied. And cdor will bow down as if to a Saudi king while singing praises before the greatest One, Barack Obama.

Does that work for you Mikey R and Chuckie?

Here we go bashing conservatives again. Most of your commenters truly love you for it. Not me.

Your attitude, Rick, kinda reminds me of a joke I learned from an old salesman mentor of sorts. He used to say, "Remember young man, when it comes to selling, never drop your pants before you knock on the door."

From my perspective, you are a quick-draw sharpshooter when it comes to reaching for your belt buckle. What success can one hope to achieve if half of the prize is surrendered before negotiation even starts?

THE MOST EXPENSIVE DATE NIGHT IN HISTORY

I forgot to mention when I take a business trip and bring my wife along, I pay at least half out of pocket with after tax dollars. You don't suppose The ObieOne forked out any personal cash for this little "date night" do you?

How 'bout this one CZ? I paraphrase,"Americans can no longer use 25% of the world's energy when we are just 3% of the world's population. We can't drive our SUV's and eat whatever we want and the rest of the world just says, OK" Obama on the campaign trail.

Obama as POTUS to Michelle, "Hey babe, let's jet up to NY tonight, have a cool dinner, take in a play, and come back...we can be home by 1:00 am"

With the secret service and nypd and who knows what else, I'd guess he used as much energy and emitted as much CO2 in one night as your and my entire families together do in an entire year.

But hell, he's sooooo cool.
Like I said, he's the elite, we're nothin' but chumps. Next time you walk to the grocery store, forget about steak and pork chops...it's rice and beans for us.

Michael Reynolds is nothing if not consistant in his political hackery.

And Rick, you sir are never at a loss for words. I was laughing and enjoying your humor...up until about halfway through, when my eyes started glazing over.

Obama is the epitomy of elitism. "Do as I say, not as I do, you chumps."

DEALERGATE: STATISTICAL COINCIDENCE OR POLITICAL BIAS? (IMPORTANT UPDATE BELOW)

BTW, Stew...whatever.

Flippydippity(?)
" What’s next? Maybe Obama will personally oversee the persecution of Republican McDonald’s franchisees?"

Ha, never. He's never so obvious. What he will do is TAX cow farts until a Big Mac costs fifty bucks.

Actually, Stew, I believe in capitalism as well, which would include the rule of law with contracts. Obama's team tore up bankruptsy laws by forcing the first secured to move to the back of the bus. Once they did that, they essentially said this whole deal will go down as we say. You can't call it captialism when the government is picking the winners and losers. Once they controlled the game, Obama's team could have stopped this from happening, or at least managed it much better.

These dealers got about 3 weeks. Think about that Stew. What exactly necessitated the rush? It seems that everything is an emergency nowadays. It is bullcrap and I would like you to explain what costs to Chrysler or you and I were being handed down by these dealers. The bankruptsy already voided the dealers' ability to receive normal compensation for withdrawing their franchises. Why not let capitalism work a little here. Many of these guys were still profitable. Let the market work. They would have weeded themselves out and in the process would have been able to make entrepenurial decisions to change their operating models. You realize, don't you, that for their loyalty these dealers will be stuck with hundreds of millions of dollars of inventory that as of June 9th will no longer be considered New car inventory under the handed down terms. Just another slap in the face to go along with the punch in the gut.

I've made my point enough about the trillion dollars wasted in stimulus. These guys never took a penny, nor asked for one. What they did need was time and a fair playing field and they got neither.

I have always felt that Obama would have been an idiot to have his hands all over these choices. But his team is running the show and once again has shown utter callousness to entrepenures and small businesses. We are now in an era of corporatism and elitism, but that is a topic Mr Moran can choose for himself to explore, or not.
