FLIRTING WITH OBAMANIA

Rick, look at some of his actual positions and you'll see that supporting him over McCain is crazy. He believes in the Living Wage, for example, a nutty concept that would require teenagers at McDonald's to be paid enough to support a family of four.

Don't let your bitterness over Fred's loss lead you to Coulterville.

THE DEBATE OF ALMOST, MOSTLY, REPUBLICANS

I think the problem is that the party has gotten fat and happy over the last 7 elections, with a 5-2 record in the big game, that the base seems to buy this ridiculous notion that we can nominate anybody at any time and he'll win. McCain represents the sensible Republicans who say, "Give me the most conservative guy who can win," where the base seems to be saying "I don't care if he can win, we want the most conservative guy." It's bizarre to me, but then the liberal base engages in the same type of pouting as well.

This isn't 1980. Yes, the country is hungry for change, but unfortunately for the GOP, a Republican is in the White House.

I also disagree that McCain would have to move the party left in order to win moderate Dems and Independents; part of the reason the party chose him is because he attracts those voters already.

NARROWING THE FIELD

Great analysis, Rick. I think the Giuliani train has been derailed. Granted, he didn't compete in South Carolina, but 2%?

Love the drama queens telling us they'd rather have Hillary.

FINAL PREDICTIONS FOR SC AND NV

Sorry that Thompson didn't get the other ticket out of South Carolina instead of Huck. What do you think of Giuliani's pathetic finishes (sixth in both SC and Nev)? Stunning. I think McCain's pulled the rabbit out of the hat.

BLOGBURST FOR FRED - AN UPDATE

Rick, any comment on Joe Scarborough's ridiculous claim that Fred was acting as a "stalking horse" for McCain last night? It's one of the scuzziest attempts to sabotage two campaigns at once I've seen in awhile.

COULD CONSERVATIVES WORK WITH A PRESIDENT OBAMA?

Will Obama need any help from the Republicans? We've already got a Democrat congress, and if Obama wins, it seems extremely likely that he'll have some coattails as well.

FACING UP TO THE UNBEARABLE TRUTH

Rick, I'm a big fan of yours, from back in the Superhawk days, but this is unworthy of you (and Green as well). You know darn well that last night's win actually goes to McCain (and to a lesser extent, Guiliani). Check out their contracts at InTrade if you doubt me.

Huckabee got his win precisely because of anti-Christian sentiment in the MSM about him. Posts like this and Green's (which I admit was far worse) will just tick off the CC crowd, and may result in them sitting on their hands in the general.

PREDICTIONS - AND A LAMENT

Despite being a McCain supporter, I don't think he has a prayer of coming in second tonight. I'm hoping for a strong third, with Huckabee winning.

NOW'S THE TIME TO COME OUT FOR FRED

Heh, your headline made me think you were saying "Bring out your Fred!" Not that I have room to laugh at those rooting for distinctly underdog candidates; mine was dead and buried and they were tamping down the ground when he got up and started walking again.
