WAR? WHAT WAR?

Absent a formal declaration of war this crap will continue. All is needed is to issue a formal declaration of war against the entity known as AQ. Where is it written that war can only be declared against a nation?

Really, though, if we are really at war it is with Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Iran and perhaps Syria. Let's cut to the chase. They harbor terrorists, terrorists attack us, they are then our enemies. You know...walks like a duck, etc. etc.

Lastly there really is no Global War on Terror in my view for that implies a unified global effort to fight the war. What we have is battles occurring in various parts of the globe perpetuated by radical Islam. There are many mini-wars being fought.

I JUST CAN'T GET ENOUGH OF PARIS HILTON

Poor little victimized Paris, eh? Gimme a break. Let her sit and stew and cry and get depressed. Compassion? Fuggetaboutit.

What is even more appalling is no sense of outrage at the parents who, by spoiling and enabling their daughter, created this
spectacle. It's sad, sick and deserves our contempt.

O'REILLY AND GERALDO LOSE IT ON AIR

It's a scarier place when borders are not protected and laws are ignored.

NO WORDS

So a Gore Presidency brings eternal peace in the Middle East? Why stop there?

Uday and Qusay convert to Southern Baptists and volunteer for "Habitat for Humanity".

Gore invents a new form of "cold-fusion" in his spare time during evenings at the White House (while fine tuning all the Internet protocols he invented.) Hummers now run for a week on a single tablespoon of chunky style peanut-butter.

Kim Jong II meets with Dr. Phil, joins a 12 step program that cures genocidal addiction, and starts making guest appearances on "The View". Rosie starts to rethink her sexual orientation.

Bill Clinton joins a Jesuit monastery and takes a vow of silence.

Hillary bakes cookies and launches a new career singing in a tribute band for Tammy Wynette.

Jimmy Carter retreats from making public appearances, saying that the job of being President was hard enough without being second guessed by former occupants of the White House. He goes out fishing and beats a rabbit to a bloody pulp.

SEAN PENN CHANNELS MONTY PYTHON

It's not the incoherrent ramblings of Mr. Penn that give me pause, it's the fruitcakes and weirdos that actually listen to him...and Rosie and Charlie Sheen and all the other Hollywood and entertainment personalites that reside in far left
loon land.

Please, don't give those people any more press than they already have.

COULTER FATIGUE

They invited her, knowing what she said last year about "ragheads" and the other inflammatory things she has said over the years. The people at the conference, knowing what she said last year about "ragheads" and the other inflammatory things she has said over the years, lined up to go hear her. When she made a new inflammatory remark this year, in line with what she said last year about "ragheads" and the other inflammatory things she has said over the years, she got laughter and applause.

There are the obligatory "distancing" remarks but face it: She knows her audience and she gives them what they want, and she keeps getting invited back because everyone knows she knows her audience and everyone knows she will give them what they want. And her books will sell big, and she'll be on lots of talk shows, and she'll speak at other conferences, and all of that says far more than the obligatory "distancing" remarks.

POLLSTERS FINALLY STARTING TO ASK THE RIGHT QUESTIONS ON IRAQ

It always amazed me that hardly anyone criticized the liberal media after the election, when they said, and continue to say that, "The American people have sent a clear message with this election. They want the troops home now and an end to the war."

To be polite - bull poopy!

In most of the races where a Republican was defeated by a Democrat, the vote was very close - 53% to 47%, 51% to 49% - hardly a clear message at all! You only have to look at Joe Liberman as a perfect example. There probabaly isn't a more ardent supporter of the war and Bush on the Democratic side than Joe, and he won his election without even having the support of his own party!

The polls are always suspect, but the is a message from thsi election. What do I think the people were trying to say? I think they are confused and divived, and don't know who to trust to keep our solders out of harms way and WIN this effort.

I'll bet most of them agree with the following:

1. Saddam may not have been as eminent a threat as we thought at the time, but it's *good* thing that he's gone.
2. We botched the war stategy, and continue to even today by not going full blast.
3. We failed to correctly anticipate what would happen between the factions when Saddam's iron fist was removed.
4. Maybe some new voices in congress can shape this outcome better.
5. We don't want to abandon Iraq. We want a stable country. It does not heve to be like our democracy, or even a democracy at all. It merely needs to be a responsible member of the world community, and not support terrorism.

THE ISG REPORT: NOT EXACTLY "BLOOD, SWEAT, AND TEARS"

I scanned through the report. What I came away with was that the Iraqi people don't want to do the heavy lifting to make this work. If sects and tribes are more important to them, it never will work. It's that simple.

One has to want a democratic form of government and be willing to pay the price to get and keep it. We can't make them want it.

As far as engaging Iran and Syria, I suppose we can talk but I fail to see what kind of permanent agreement could come out of it. IMO, there would have to be some complete change of thinking on their part and I wonder why they would do that. We're the beggars and they know it.

One thing I agree with the report on. It's a mess and isn't going to get better any time soon. I just don't want anymore American soldiers dying for people who won't fight. Train them, yes. Die for them, no.

IN WHICH I AM HEARTILY SICK OF GLENN GREENWALD

I'm heartily sick of Bush supporters who were screaming about how sacrosanct the "Rule of Law" was when it was Clinton in the White House. This administration has used 9/11 as an excuse to destroy the rule of law more than any administration in my lifetime.
