TENTH AMENDMENT MOVEMENT SURGES FORWARD

>>Little wonder they didn’t need to go to the Supreme Court to get that straight, as it’s pretty straightforward.<<

Speaking of the Supreme Court, recent actions from that branch of the Federal government have also spurred the growth of the 10th Amendment Movement.

The case last year in Lousiana, where the SC was asked for a ruling on whether the death penalty was OK to use in a case of child rape, is a perfect example. The Court should have declined to hear the case, as it is clearly the states authority to set punishments for crimes within its borders. Instead, it heard and made a ruling.

If the court wanted to declare the death penalty cruel and unusual, and therefore make it off limits in all states, it could have done so. But it had no business telling Louisiana what penalty is appropriate for what crime.

With all 3 branches of government whittling away at this amendment, the Movement may be more important than it seems on the surface.

JACK BAUER IS NOT DEAD

I really miss your "24" reviews. They were the best. Also the kill rates. I can't keep up. Have you been doing that on the side???

No - but Jack's kill count is way, way down this year. A dozen and a half would be my guess. And with four episodes left, it will more than likely mean that Jack will end up with a smaller body count than at any time since I began keeping score.

I wish I had the time to write about it - I really do. Not to be, I guess.

Khalid was waterboarded 183 times!. Yet there was no blood loss, no scars, no permanent damage of any kind. All 5 senses and all body parts worked as well as they did before they started.

And you call that torture?

I think we all understand that reagardless of what they say officially, and however they want to define torture, any and all governments will use whatever methods they deem appropriate to get information they think is vital to their cause.

Obama's approval ratings have dropped like a rock over the past two months. He is only digging himself an earlier grave by bringing this up. It's amature hour again. He and his crew haven't got a clue how to handle power.

If only we can find a suitable opponent, he should be gone in 4.

GLENN BECK AND THE RADICAL RIGHT

Thanks to Glenn's warning about the economy in 2007 I took all of my 401(k) out of stocks in July 2007. So I'm about $500K ahead and will be able to retire. Of course, what's left will just about be enough to buy a loaf of bread after the hyper-inflation that will result from printing $2T (or $3T or $4T) to show how serious we are about "recovery".

THE ILLUSION OF OPPORTUNITY

I don't think the opportunity is an illusion. It just needs a bit more time to blossom.

Many people I have talked to recently, people who drank the Obama cool aid during the election, while not ready to give up on him yet, are a bit concerned about some of the things happening, and are certainly not as gung ho as they were 3 months ago.

How to best nurture that opportunity, and take advantage of it is the question. The old parties are not drawing people the way they used to. The Democrats didn't win in November because of their party. They won because of a slick talking, charismatic speaker, who represented not only Hope and Change, but the opportunity to vote for the first black president in our history. Obama could have run as a Republican and won just as easily.

So how do you counter that phenomenom? You can't do it just by "getting the Republcan party back to its roots" as so many are preaching. Although it *does* need to get there. You need to fight fire with fire. We need a candidate who can match Obama in charisma as well as ideas. Newt said he would run in 2012 if needed, and Newt certainly has the ideas in spades, so does Buchanan, but neither has the right persona and charisma to win over non political people!

Where to turn? Jindal? No way! Romney? Too stiff. Any of the Bushes - Nope! Huckabee? Maybe, but not sure we can trust him on immigration any more. Juliani? He's got the charisma, but I suspect his time has passed. McCain? Too old now, and anyone who picks the true architect of the banking and oil crises of the past 4 years (Phill Graham) as his financial advisor cannot be trusted anyway. Ron Paul? Can't handle a debate. Tom Tancredo? Worth considering, but hard to say.

Who's left? We need to find someone. The only one I know who could do it is already what you might call "damaged goods". If he was still some unknown radio talk host in the sticks somewhere, and we could spring him on the country without the baggage he has already accumulated, Rush could handle Obama as he states he does every day - with one hand tied behind his back. But alas - that would probably not work now.

Suggestions?

BRING BACK THE STOCKS!

Who gave them the money in the first place. Put Harry Reid in the stocks

Chuck is right. The AIG bonuses are lunch money in the grand scheme of things. But it's OUR lunch money now, so we have a right to be concerned.

And Funny Man is right.

The oil barons and world bankers have been running the show since 1913. Obama may have had high hopes for his own plans while running for office, but he is singing their tune now. Next step - a one world currency. You have heard it mentioned already , but come April and the next G8 meeting, this will be proposed as the solution to the world's economic problems. Why do you think he has been such a doomsayer until the press (who hasn't a clue) called him on it. They need the world to think that nothing can solve this economic crisis, not even the wonderful porkulis package, until the world bankers step in and offer their survival plan.

The world is about to undergo a dramatic change if they get their way. I'm not sure what can be done to stop it. And I'm not sure it needs to be stopped. But I would sure like to have the time consider it more. Right now my head is spinning with the speed at which things are happening, and like the rest of us, I have my daily life to be concerned about and have not had the chance to analyze the possible consequences thoroughly. The only thing that might stand in the financial elite's way is the Supreme Court. We'll see how they handle the Congress and Obama's attempt to impose a 95% tax on the AIG exec's bonuses. If they crumble under that, America as we know it today, and the constitution, are pretty much in tatters.

Then again, I could just be some crazy conspiracy theorist :-)

As it turns out, these were retention bonuses.

Last year, AIG seeing it was in dire straits due to it's sub prime mortgage involvement, began divesting and reorganizing sections of it's business to save money. Part of these changes involved the loss of many executive level positions.

In order to make the reorganization happen as smoothly as possible, some of these execs were asked to stay on and use their experience and knowledge of the inner workings of these departments to guide the process. Knowing they would lose their jobs when it was all done, AIG offered them these bonuses to keep them from just walking out.

That said, I love the idea of the stocks for punishment for a whole range of crimes. I suspect that day after day of public humiliation would do wonders for the recidivism rate.
