IF REAGAN TOLERATED MODERATES, WHY CAN'T TODAY'S CONSERVATIVES?
Hmmmm, lefties like this site and wonder why us "crazies" don't agree with Rick.
Here are some facts for you. Bush was a moderate. He did what the left wanted. he was a "pragmatist". He lost to Clinton.
W was a moderate. Look up Jonah Goldberg's speech on the link he provide in the Corner. Bush spent like a Dem. His only sins are his faith and Iraq. He is no conservative. He was hated. He gave us Obama.
McCain is a "pragmatist". The perfect candidate according to Moran. he got his ass handed to him. Period.
Moderation doesn't win elections. Never has, never will.
Please re-read the history or Reagan and how the GOP was prior to his ascendancy. Reagan tolerated moderates once he won and after they tried a 3rd party candidate. The extremists he railed against were the Birchers...today's version of the Ron Paul supporters.
When Palin or Jindhal takes the reins and gives our movement a true leader, then we will win and win big. We will also welcome back you "moderates" who like to hang with winners.

Obama's thrilled to see us waste our time on this crap. Focus on the fact he is Hugo Chavez's alter ego by beating the drum for the Ayers connection. Also mob support for Pelosi's "worker's freedom", union sign up scheme might wake some people up. If Obama wins, the very people voting for him are going to get screwed. All the marginal workers at Walmart come to mind. Our national sense of Irony is about to be greatly enhanced.

Near as I can tell, a bunch of rich people; Al Gore, the owners of WaPo and NYT, a bunch of union bosses, and some trial lawyers, are going up against another bunch of rich people; oil men, doctors, real estate developers, (bankers are on both sides, as always). Get ready for the money and power grab of the millennium. Believe me, race has nothing to do with it. It's all about the Benjamins.

One interesting negative is that in the general election he would probably not carry his own state should he come up against Mark Warner, who's wildly popular here in Virginia. I'm sure most saw it, but about a month ago Newsweek ran a great profile of each, anticipating a head to head match-up.
