ALL ABOARD THE HUCKABOOB TRAIN WRECK!

This is one of the best political blogs on the internet. The analysis is always very good, however, I am amazed at the attention paid to one Mike Huckabee. This man has absolutely no chance of winning the Republican nomination for President much less getting nominated. All of the attention that is being devoted to his campaign on this blog is simply not warranted.

THE CROSSING

This is a very interesting article. I never knew about Washington's intellegence gathering on the enemy, however, it does not surprise me. Winning a war begins and ends with having good intellegence on the enemy. It seems very unlikely that the Colonists could have won the war for our independence without this intellegence network.

Today the US is very weak with regards to intellegence on its enemies or even its potental enemies. The US does not have very good intellegence on Russia, China, or on Islamic terrorists. This is going to need to be addressed very soon.

NO DEAL FOR THE LEFT ON HYPOCRISY IMMUNITY

The next President may not be a "she." It may well be "he." His last bame may be "obama" or perhaps "Edwards." Mrs. Clinton has not won yet. With that said the general sentiment is correct. The United States is in a war for its very survival against Islmaic terrorists and their Communists allies in Russia and China. We have allowed oursevles to beomc distracted.

THE VERY DEEP THOUGHTS OF MIKE HUCKABEE

This blog has wasted allot of time writing about Huckabee. He has about as much of a chance at getting the nomination as there is of being a blizzard in the tropics. The Republican party will never nominate a former minister or anyone else who is to close to the so called religous right. While Huckabee has no chance of getting the nomination, his run may have some value if it finally gets the Republican party to take seriously the concerns of evangelical Christians.

The apparent mistaken quote of Sun Tzu will be no doubt be used against Huckabee. It clearly indicates a lack of preparation. This should be enough to sink his candidacy. Even if it does not sink his candidacy and if nothing else comes along the Republican establishment or the main stream news media will simply invent it. There is no way they would voluntarily nominate a former minister. This man has never had a chance at getting the nomination. It is useless to spend so much time dwellling on him.

STOP THE HUCKABOOM

The Christian right, to the extent that such a group actually exists cannot nominate Huckabee or anyone else. They do not have this kind of influence. They may be able to have some influence but they cannot tell teh Republicans who to nominate. I don't know enough about Huckabee to know if I would vote for him or not. I think his true value is he may be in a position to get the Republican party leadership to take seriously the concerns of Christian conservatives.

IS THE IRAN NIE BUSH'S "DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE?"

If Iran halted its nuclear weapons program in the fall of 2003, it would interesting to ask how the invasion of Iraq factored into their decision. Also, if it assumed Iran has not restarted the program, how has a large contingent of American troops in the neighboring country of Iraq affected their decisions and how will the Iranian nuclear weapons program be affected when American forces are withdrawn from Iraq? To the best I can tell, no major media sources are asking these questions.

For the record, I don't think the war in Iraq was a good idea. I think it has severly undermined our national security and the security of our most important ally, Israel but it would be a prudent question to ask how teh invasion of Iraq affected Iranian policy and how it will be affected by the coming departure of American troops.

I think the NIE report is likely bogus. I find it difficult to put any trust in American intellegence agencies who have a long track record of getting so many things wrong. Frankly the news that Iran abandoned its nuclear weapons program in 2003 and has not restarted it sounds to good to be true. I learned long ago that if something sounds to good to be true that it probably is not true.

It is my understanding that the Israelis are disputing these findings. The Israelis are probably correct. Their survival depends upon accurate intellegence on their enemies. I would trust the Israelis before I would trust the American intellegence community.

SEVERE CRACKDOWN BY MUSHARRAF: DEMOCRACY HOPES FADE (UPDATE: MUSHARRAF SPEAKS)

Kreiz

I agree, while there is a military solution to the problem of Iranian nukes, this solution will require a greater military build up than the Americans and their Western European allies are prepared to undertake right now. Since we are unprepared to undertake the kind of military buildup or make the kinds of sacrifices that would need to be undertaken to have an effective military response to either the issues in Pakistan or Iran, our best option appears to be negotiations.

SIPPIN' SOME KOOL ADE ON THE VERANDA WITH MY BUDDY OBAMA

Ultimately if we can reach an agreement with the Iranians that seems satisfactory to all sides there will have to be some mechanism in place to ensure that the Iranians honor the agreements they make. The US will honor its agreements. The pressure placed on them by the main stream media and others is always intense. They would be unable to shirk their agreements even if they really wanted to.

For the Iranians this is a different story. It would be an unmitigated disaster if the US makes concessions to Iran and the Iranians shirk whatever agreements they make. We will need to insist on some mechanism to ensure Iran honors whatever agreements that may be made. Right now such a mechanisim simply does not exist.

RUDY EXPLOITS MOVEON'S STUPIDITY

This ad seems to have been a specatularly dumb move by Moveon.org. This move seems to have been so dumb that I wonder if there is some brilliance to it that I am missing.
