Don't confuse "near front runner status" with gaining the approval of the majority of Republicans. We're talking 20-25% not 45-55%.Comment Posted By Arthur On 23.12.2007 @ 14:26
Yeah, Pakistan, the war and all that is more important but they made fun movies during WW2. We can fight the war AND watch the Bonds trial at the same time. Fire up the popcorn!Comment Posted By Arthur On 17.11.2007 @ 02:59
> But there is still time to maneuver diplomatically. Not much time – perhaps less than a year – before Iran will probably be capable of slowly enriching uranium to weapons grade levels
But we HAVE been maneuvering diplomatically. So far, it hasn't worked. Let's say you were the prez. When would YOU push the button?Comment Posted By Arthur On 17.09.2007 @ 19:30
> Remembering or not remembering 9/11 won’t change that fact nor will denying the reality of that statement make it less true. The reason is simple. It takes two sides to make war. ...
It just takes one side to make war. A significant point about 9/11 is that THEN we noticed there was a war on and we'd better start fighting it.Comment Posted By Arthur On 2.09.2007 @ 14:09

That's pretty normal for Federal facilities. They had Marine guards when I started at NSA but switched to the white-shirted Federales a few months later (around 1978-79). The white-shirts are the same guys who guard the Capitol. I'd like to see the Congressional hearing the CTU guy tried to argue they need fancier guards than the Congress.Comment Posted By Arthur On 9.05.2007 @ 12:07
> Doyle pulls up to where Jack ditched the tracking device and is able to divine which way Bauer headed. His logic is impeccable but one wonders how he was able to determine the exact place that Jack got rid of the tracking device and how he could tell the direction Jack took off toward.
He was examining tire tracks. Probably not too many old tracks in the area of those power lines.Comment Posted By Arthur On 24.04.2007 @ 14:51
First off, the show wasn't as bad as you made it out to be. You probably were in bad mood.Comment Posted By Arthur On 18.04.2007 @ 15:41
But there were sure a lot of howlers. My favorite was at the press conference. Less than 18 hours after a US city gets nuked the SECOND question was "what about all those detainees?"
> And anyone who puts the onus for this loss on Rex Grossman doesn’t know anything about football. Yes, Wonder Dog was bad. But I would also mention that he didn’t have a chance to show what he could do because the offense never had the damn ball!
The offense would have had the damn ball more if they had been able to get more first downs. "Three and Out" is very close to a turnover.
I agree that Grossman will develop into a better quarterback over time.Comment Posted By Arthur On 6.02.2007 @ 17:37
A couple of amusing goofs from the first hour.
America has been under suicide-bomber attack for 11 weeks as the show begins. In the news coverage of the bus bomb we hear that DHS has raised the terror threat level to ***RED***... for the FIRST TIME EVER! OMG, it takes 11 weeks to bump up to red?
Achhhmed's dad is hauled away by the FBI - presumably as a terror suspect. And they don't search the house!?!? (probably would not have found the 'package' in the wall but still!)Comment Posted By Arthur On 15.01.2007 @ 17:14
