THE "STATE OF THE UNION" IS NEVER THE POINT

"Repeat after me, tax cuts, of any kind, are good and preferable to letting the federal government keep it in order to justify even more spending."

The reason you have to keep making people repeat this is that it's not a blanket truth, but Republicans have to believe it blindly in order to get their politicians elected.

It's only true when the lowering of taxes is accompanied by equal cuts in the budget. The Republicans had control of the Presidency and both houses of Congress for 6 years. This was a perfect opportunity to realize the core Republican dream of cutting taxes, lowering the budget, and letting the economy boom. Unfortunately the Republican leadership doesn't have the political courage to actually make the necessary budget cuts. This is because a majority of federal money flows from blue states to red states. If Republican leaders make those necessary budget cuts, they won't get reelected.

So I'm sitting here thinking about how much of my paycheck goes toward paying off interest on the national debt, which has grown to insane proportions while Bush was at the helm. I have to hand it to you Republicans -- the political power you've gained from your reputation of lowering taxes is incredible. The problem is that it's a huge scam.

ACTING BARBAROUSLY TO DEFEAT THE BARBARIANS

It would not be as difficult as you say to wreak some havoc in Iran via clandestine methods.

1. Lack of Farsi speaking assasin problem? Ahem....how about MEK - while we disarmed, I hope we collected some cell phone numbers or e-mail addies. Who do you think blew up the Quds bus last week? Plus we have access to Afghanistan...they speak something close to Farsi there.

2. Assasinate a few scientists and no matter how much security you put on them, they'll be under pressure. The other guy was right - Israel does this successfully. They should be the model.

3. Multiple targets...hit the gas infrastructure first, then the scientists and finally the mullahs. You're looking to throw some sand in their gears not to blow up their entire country. Note to CIA idiots...use third party weapons...hey about using Austrian sniper rifles...that would be ironic,no?

OBAMA AND THE ASSASSINATION FACTOR

It ain't the 1960's and the right wing white supremacists also oppose the Iraq war, so they probably wouldn't kill the guy who's gonna get us out by March 2008.

You also missed another possible motivation for an Obama killer: Muslim extremist angerered by his apostasy.

STRANGER THAN FICTION: DOES 24 INSPIRE REAL LIFE TORTURE?

In Taiwan, you can rent "24" at the local Blockbuster. I would not be surprised that would be a big hit all over the world.

There's a famous story about the police in Sweden have to constantly explain to their prisoners that they do not have Miranda rights (the suspects have seen too many US TV shows...)

UN TO UNITED STATES: CRACK DOWN ON DISSENT OR ELSE...

Sounds like a democrat, "It's not our policies, it's that our message is not getting out."

You know, a liberal democrat friend of mine backpacked across Africa and came back with a hatred for the UN officials he saw in action.

ANN COULTER: CONSERVATIVE LOUT

Reverend Fred Phelps - is a democrat. He even campaigned for Gore.

Sorry to burst your fantasy.

JUST HOW DYSFUNCTIONAL ARE OUR INTELLIGENCE AGENCIES?

Because the media and the rest of the world kept asking for "a smoking gun," like it was a detective show.

The plan should be to improve the HUMINT and covert action parts of the CIA (like not closing stations in dangerous countries, etc.) while eliminating leakers.

CIA VS. THE WHITE HOUSE: McCARTHY AND THE DC REVOLVING DOOR

So, Mona thinks its okay for Mary to break the law but not okay for Bush.

Now, when I pay my taxes, I really do want a CIA that waterboards less than 12 people over 5 years of war, including the mastermind of 9/11 Sheikh Khalid (sp?) after conventional methods did not work. He's the friggin' definiton of a ticking bomb scenario, sorry Mona.

and plenty of people were tortured in the cold war...you do realize American troops tortured prisoners in Viet Nam?

OH THOSE PESKY IRAQI WMD'S!

Somebody should do the math and decide how much could have been flown...and yep, if you were to fly it out, I would guess you'd ideally have a cover.

Because otherwise, a truck convoy, well, that could show up easily on a sat photo.
